    How's your day going?

A ways from retirement here but still enjoying these 1911s in the mean time. I should probably check in here more often...

Theres been lots of good suggestions, im reading them all... Thank you. I still think its the sights, and not me... But am thinking I will give it another range session to work on the ideas here, if anything to validate my own shooting as not the issue. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

    Dan Wesson PM-C .45 - Fail after 6 rounds

My apologies if I missed the 1st part where it occurred without the buffer. I know from my own many warranty returns with DW that all function testing has to be done with their mags and no aftermarket parts.... any manufacturer actually. I know people make quality buffers but the 1911 was not...

I haven't read anything in this thread to suggest I'm affecting the POI. I didn't grip the gun wrong, flinch, pull, anticipate recoil. Any rare occasion I might, I know immediately it was me. As I stated above already the targets I showed represent me firing slowly and deliberately. I fired 2...

I can handle and forgive the windage being off, but personally wont accept any new gun that isnt zeroed on elevation with fixed combat sights. Not certain why anyone else would honestly.

I have many other 1911s I shoot spot on, same scenario. Its not me. From what Im reading here the front sight is not the right one for the gun and the gun was never zeroed at the factory.

@terdog No manufacturer is going to honor their warranty on aftermarket parts they did not design or sell the gun with. Sure Ive got my gripes against DW, but that is not one of them.

Yes, I should have mentioned but this is fixed sights. Im thinking the front one should be replaced under warranty repair.

I have a dilemma and need opinions... Brand new 1911, first time firing it and the POI is way off for me. I need the brutal truth if its just me or if this should go back to warranty repair. the smaller 3" target was shot at from 3yds, the larger 8" target was shot at from 7 yards (forgive the...

So im not alone.... I invested in a DW based on their stellar reputation and my only DW has been a horror story of warranty repairs 2 years worth and technically still going. And quite frankly the many "2-500rds breakin" ive had to pay for each warranty return isnt helping me like them.

    lax ammo not reliable

to follow up with what I mentioned earlier, I haven't used reloads in a couple years now... here are some pics of the issues I was having. Back then I had the issues memorized with who I bought them from but cant recall now so it wouldn't be fair to say. But can say I was buying from LAX...

    lax ammo not reliable

I had problems a few years ago with LAX and Freedom reloads, stopped buying all reloaded ammo. It made no sense when new ammo was the same cost. Even with a commercial reloader, theres actually quite a bit of risk using them depending on how many times a case has been reloaded. Its not worth it.
