    Yury's shooting log

Day 1009. Three months, 3,144 min of dryfire, and 3,600 rounds of live fire. 2,026 of that amount is the Doubles drill. Also, I limited my dry fire drills to the Trigger control at Speed, Movements, Transitions, Low port, Widening Transitions and couple of similar. I totally stopped worrying...

    Yury's shooting log

I was optimizing my practice time. I found that a second timer is needed -- a dedicated par timer for dry-fire practice. Existing competition timer needs reconfiguration and it takes time: change start mode, par time, and volume. (The same time will be spent during live fire practice) I have a...

    Yury's shooting log

Day 937. Three-month report. So totals are 2,490 min of dryfire, and 5,432 rounds of live fire. Also tried something new: bowling pin match, 3-gun, and a new pistol. All these are fun. Well, it was actually four months. I decided to take a month off from any training and do some thinking. At...

    Beretta 90Two for Production

Reloading? Since you cannot swap barrels (https://uspsa.org/viewer/Appendix_D4.pdf , see 21.3), you can develop a custom load with lower PF for .40.

    Yury's shooting log

Day 820. Three months of 2,670 dry-fire practice minutes and 5,665 live rounds were awesome. Tried something new: spending as many rounds as I feel needed for a practice. There were no surprises at the Area 4 match -- performed at my current level. Though forgot to engage one target. It is like...

    The Unmentionables

Is it even legal? NPOI (National Party Organizers Institute) would not allow this. The rule book says "1.5. More than one party guest must be present (excluding the host)". I guess otherwise it a date?

    The Unmentionables

Party... alone...? Yep, that's unmentionable alright.

    inner size of belt

I'm reading 5.2.5 this way too. Just a little bit confused about different people are measuring different way. Anyway my rig is setup and measured as on pretty book pictures.

    inner size of belt

In the RO class today, the instructor showed how to measure: it is from the gun to the inner side on the outer belt (or mount, whichever is thicker). 5.2.5.1?

    Yury's shooting log

Do I really save money if I reload ammo myself? Production division does not require anything bigger than 9mm. Is it even worth to reload already cheap round? Nowadays you can find okay quality factory rounds at about 20 cents per cartridge. Let's say I can harvest spent brass for my previous...

TulAmmo's steel cases? Does anybody make them in brass/nickel?

    Once fired brass question

I assume brass cleaning/sorting people will not CG or check brass for the defects. Is there a quick way to do something on my end to weed out bad cases before throwing them into the hopper? Asking kids to visually inspect each case does not work. I'm trying to reduce amount of thrown away powder...

    Once fired brass question

It looks like as a "Mickey Mouse" clamp based on the above picture. What do people do to transfigure a Mickey?

    Once fired brass question

Going to live fire practice? Always have a tarp, especially helps picking up brass from the gravel :)

Info says "bring a minimum of 150 rounds and would be better off with 200."

    Concealed Carry Match at OKCGC

4-5 o'clock carry positions. What competitor shall do or not do during holstering or draw? Per the example of DQ from 10.5.6" "While facing downrange, allowing the muzzle of a loaded handgun to point uprange beyond a radius of 3 feet from a competitor’s feet while drawing or re-holstering". Is...

    The Unmentionables

Be creative: tie a shoulder holster to your leg or use a sandal as a holster. .410 can be converted to a cut shell slug.

    Concealed Carry Match at OKCGC

Oh, wow! I'm sorry for my ignorance. It's totally doable and safe. You just need to drop mags, then use the butt of the magwell to hook on the rear sights to rack the slide, one at a time. Dennis, you are a genius! With hi-cap mags you don't even need to reload.

    Concealed Carry Match at OKCGC

The match info says that there will be USPSA rules. I want to see you comply with "unload and show clear" command. Do you have special charging handles (for teeth?) on Kahrs' slides? Are these modifications will be allowed for the match?
