I'd imagine doing it similarly to an M3000 would work, since they have a similar action spring and transfer bar setup under the handguard.

You can definitely go to far. I never modified my M2, it just kind of broke in after practicing forever. For the Affinity, I bent it at first what I thought was just a little bit. It was too much, bending it back even slightly-er fixed it.

I wasn't able to compare them side by side, but the design does seem awfully similar - but I couldn't say that the parts are identical. What are you thinking of doing, trying to gain clearance for the match saver mounting points?

It's been running well for the youth shooter I set it up for. I'm thinking about getting one for myself so I can retire the M2 to life with an 18.5" barrel for home defense.

FWIW, I had my gunsmith mill the bolt release button flat with no sort of texture and the TTI enlarged button turning hasn't been a problem.

Good to know. Since the Franchi is basically a clone of the M2 in that regard it shouldn't be a problem.

It's a 26" and seems very similar to my 26" M2 barrel. Same sort of external finish, Looks like they came with the same small red fiber optic bead from the factory. The "barrel extension" on the Affinity isn't hard chromed like the M2 but they both have chrome lined bores.

Or calling the "lifter" or "loading gate" a carrier. It's semantics... Glock cruciform anyone? Sometimes I really hate gun nomenclature.

I totally agree but I'm also making tech vids and trying to be helpful to people using an exploded parts diagram. I was calling it a shell catch or shell stop until a few days ago.

Carrier latch = shell catch and yes. I've been trying to use the correct nomenclature for all the parts and "carrier latch" is what Benelli et. al. call it.
