I've watched a bunch of his videos too. From what I understand, Hickok45 is a BIG DUDE, I mean like, NBA basketball player... Like, 6'8", 6'9", or something! He sure knows his stuff and has a great YouTube following!
A little update on that replica M3 Tanker holster from Amazon... My son-in-law was over last weekend and brought some Rhino Wax(?) that he always used for his catcher's mitt in college. It's bees wax with a mix of vitamin E and something else... He gently used the Rhino wax all over the M3...
No Glocks... My son-in-law has a Glock 19. I *tried* to get used to it when we swapped at the range. He shot my 1911, I shot his Glock. I just couldn't get into it... Something was odd about the grip and overall handling of the Glock.
I still want a Ruger SR9, as I was {this close} to...
@Bob Lee is right... Be ready. Just like the USCG motto "Semper Paratus" (Always Ready). I'm always ready, as it was instilled in me back in bootcamp in 1979!
If I have time, I'll carry my 1911 in a shoulder holster when out and about, or even walking my dog.
If I don't have time...
I am still kicking myself for (years ago) walking away from a nice Ruger SR9 instead of buying it right then and there. I need to add a 9mm to my collection...
Get the ammo ready, save the popcorn for later.
At last count:
408 rounds of .45 ACP
210 rounds of .308
200 rounds of 12ga (mostly small game, and a few boxes buckshot).

390 rounds of .223
250 rounds of .38 special

Good God, do I need more ammo!
They are now.... COVID and school shutdown had something to do with it. Kids were "tolerable" before that. These last few years just kept getting worse and worse, and I got no support from the schools, from the county transportation office, ....and kids were out of control. I saw the writing...
I retired at 63½ at the end of last school year. You all remember... I drove a school bus for 12 years and just couldn't handle it anymore. Either I retire, or I end up in jail.... just sayin'
US Coast Guard (Ret).
County public schools transportation (Ret).
Social Security (a prior...
Happy New Year, everyone!
I used a Christmas Amazon gift card that I had, and found this modern replica/reproduction/imitation of the WWII, Korea, US Army holster for 1911's called the M3 Tanker. It arrived yesterday and is really nice looking. It's real leather and not some type of faux...
According to the FAA, the max altitude of drones is 400 feet.
400 feet == 133 yards (+/-).
A nice Rem 870 12ga with BB's and a full choke can easily hit 133 yards! Just sayin'!! :D
I am packing every day. Doesn't matter what or where or even walking my dog. You just never know with crazy lunatics these days!
Cold weather: My 1911 in a shoulder holster.
Warm weather: My old S&W .38 snubby in my front pocket.
...and nobody knows a thing.
I have (so far, if I counted correctly):
(2) 50 round boxes of 230gr FMJ from Georgia Arms (gun show ammo)
(2) 50 round boxes of 230gr FMJ Winchester White Box (Cabela's)
(1) 50 round box of 230gr FMJ Federal American Eagle (Cabela's)
(1) 7 round mag of 185gr JHP Remington Golden Saber (Town...
No experience with Charles Daly either. Sorry....
I have a Rock Island Armory FS 1911-A1 and it has well over 1,100 rounds and not one failure. Amazing performance that rivals Tisa.
Guys.... Whoa, hold up, pull the reins...
The loss of a beloved parent will stay with us forever. Good, bad, indifferent, it is what it is...
You learn to deal with it as best you can and look to others to help ease the pain of the loss.
Look at my YouTube video back up in post #24. I am...
