    AR variant calibers

For the price of attaching a different caliber upper to a standard AR-15 lower, you could probably get a tack-driving bolt action. So, I guess, what's the appeal to getting a different upper in a different caliber for hog hunting?

    American Blackout

My family uses one gallon Hawaiian Punch containers and a few drops of bleach, but, depending on your water source, you may already be drinking chlorinated water. Charcoal filters are the way to go! I'm still trying to figure out a way to make a disposable filter using activated carbon. AC...

    Remington's new Pocket Pistol

TTAG doesn't like it at all. The R51 apparently has a few flaws that make it unreliable (and deadly) for a CCW, and Remington does NOT have a fix for it yet.... http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/0 ... ngton-r51/

    Summer reading

I just read the Jakarta Pandemic (flu pandemic) by Steve Konkoly, and One Second After (EMP strike) by William Forstchen. If I ever get my copies of Rawles' books (Patriots, Survivors, Founders) back from my boss, I'll probably re-read those. And I might re-read the Enemies: Foreign and...

+1 for Darrell at SC Gunco

He had a Ruger 10/22 in stock with a Burris scope that I bought. When I whipped out my wallet, he told me that he was going to take $20 off because the guy who sold him the gun had brought it in with a 25 round mag, but came back to buy it. Darrell has great integrity and stellar customer...

WTS Shotshell Sling and Collapsing Stock for Mossberg 500

I have a Blackhawk Knoxx recoil reducing stock (AR collapsing style) and forend for the Mossberg 500, and a Blackhawk shotshell sling (holds fifteen 12 gauge shells). I'm selling them together for $50. I prefer face to face in the Upstate (I'll go as far as Anderson, Travelers Rest, Pickens...

Reducing the report of a gun from the shooter's perspective

I didn't know where to ask this, so I put it in General Discussion to get highest visibility! Mods, feel free to move it if you think it could be categorized differently! I've been thinking about muzzle brakes, and how they work and what they do, so I did some research. Basically, they take...

    New 12 gauge

I noticed you got a shim to drop the stock down. That's the only thing about a lot of aftermarket adjustable stock, they don't do well right out of the box. I have the Knoxx Blackhawk stock on my 500, and it completely changes the sight picture.

    Private property

Cities have more strict ordinances than the whole county, so you might want to actually check up on the law to see if you are in violation. Here's what Greer has to say about dogs barking: The dog could have been aggravated unnecessarily, so if you can demonstrate that the dog has been...

    Deer hunting with a shotgun

Not sure; it's a 20" cylinder bore on what you would call a "tactical" shotgun. I'm pretty sure it's the collapsible stock I'm using; the reviews on it say that it will mess with the point of aim and sight picture a bit, but I had no idea that it was that bad! I'll have to see about ordering a...
