    Dan Wesson ECO 45 Recoil

It will recoil enough to break your wrist - this comment is based upon your individual ability to shoot, but you may need to do some bench presses or biceps curls to get in shape for such a monstrous of a gun . . .

    Dan Wesson Now what?

You won't get a better trigger with the existing internals. You will certainly have to change out the hammer (due to the geometry of the hammer hooks that CZ - I mean Dan Wesson uses). Hammer spring and striker spring will also need modifications along with some rework of the sear face and the...

    Springfield's 3 position hammer

Go with the aftermarket commander style. The hammer need only have the full cock and 1/4 cock (two-position) function. The Springfield 3-position design brings nothing of value to the operation of the pistol. Just make sure you install a 70-series type hammer. 70-series will ensure the hammer is...

    Ejector Tuning

Okay - I looked it up, yes a DW in 9mm. I can say without doubt that this pistol does not have the correct ejector installed. The ejector in the photo is the "short" version used with .45 ACP. The 9mm should have a "long" version to ensure proper ejection. I know because I manufacture 1911's.

    Ejector Tuning

I had to come back and ask one more question, is this a .45 ACP? In the photo showing a round on the breech face it looks like 9mm?

    Ejector Tuning

Seems to be too much bend in the extractor. Re-tune it to fit without contacting the case.

oh the trouble I have seen

This is interesting to follow . . . I'm curious in that if you stripped your pistol down to frame and slide, then you would have removed the firing pin stop, firing pin, spring and extractor. In this case you would know without doubt whether or not your 1911 is 70 or 80's series?

oh the trouble I have seen

    A series 80 model?

oh the trouble I have seen

Is this a series 80 ? Sounds like the safety plunger lever is binding - or is locked up. Simple problem to fix if this is the issue.
