    Alpha Foxtrot 1911 Issues

That's where I bought it. I've thought about going back there, but haven't yet made the trip.

    Alpha Foxtrot 1911 Issues

Thanks for the reply. I've made five attempts to contact Alpha Foxtrot with no response yet (details on my original post). I'll give them until Monday to see if they actually have "Service" in their customer service.

    Alpha Foxtrot 1911 Issues

Has anyone had any experience with Alpha Foxtrot 1911s? I recently picked up a new 1911 by Alpha Foxtrot (AF1911 Government-size .45). The gun has a couple issues. I've reached out to AF in Georgia twice using their website "Contact" form, twice by voicemail (generic number - no number...

    .45 ACP component recommendations

That's why I hand prime all my cases. I de-prime and re-size on my Dillon, then clean the primer pockets (that's where I sort large from small), then hand prime, then finish everything with the Dillon. And HP38 (or w231) is my go-to powder, but I have also used Unique.

    Pocket Pistol Recommendation

I have carried a variety of pocket pistols over the years. Every day I put on a uniform over a 38-year law enforcement career a S&W Model 38 was in my pocket (I had the tailor sew a second pocket inside my right front trouser pocket specifically for that gun). Now that I’m retired, I...

    Norinco M1911A1

22ConversionUnut, that’s nice work on the Norinco. They show up occasionally on the auction sites here in the States. I found one at a gun shop a few years ago. Solid gun. We did a review on the Norinco as part of our Great Affordable 1911 Series.

    Colt Sights, Help!

Another vote for Dawson. Definitely watch the Dawson videos on YouTube. And spend the few extra dollars to get the sight file from Dawson - it’s not a regular file. After Les Baer replaced the rear sight on my Stinger, the gun was shooting low with the after-market front sight. (I bought the...

    Point of impact

I’m still curious - what gun, what sights?

    Point of impact

A sight pusher for the windage, but that doesn't help the elevation issue. If it is a plain black front sight, I would carefully file it down, but if it is anything else - FO, tritium, etc., - it would need a new shorter front sight.

    Point of impact

Koda, unless I missed it, I didn’t see any mention of the make/model of gun, type of fixed sights (3-dot, straight eight, plain black, etc.), nor the ammo type/weight you are using. All may be important to answer the question, because I believe it’s the gun, not you. A friend and I each had...

    Dan Wesson PM-C .45 - Fail after 6 rounds

September 5th Follow-up: Dan Wesson did a great, quick turn-around. Had the gun back in 9 days all fixed up and running perfect. Here's the follow-up video: (I still believe that Dan Wesson makes the finest "production" 1911 pistols.)

    Dan Wesson PM-C .45 - Fail after 6 rounds

terdog, thanks for the info. I'm wondering if the quality control at DW is deteriorating as they are becoming more popular. I know of 3 Guardian 9mm pistols that were all shooting very high, at least two of which went back to DW for a taller front sight (one is mine). And I'm still having random...

    Dan Wesson PM-C .45 - Fail after 6 rounds

I picked up a new Dan Wesson Pointman Carry .45 yesterday (my 7th Dan Wesson 1911). I inspected it with the sales staff, it appeared to be range-ready (it didn't appear to be dry, as I got some oil on my fingers when working the action), so I took it to the range. It shoots great and feels...

    STI Staccato C

Zipper, thanks for watching and for your comment. As part of The Great Affordable 1911 Series, Rider's Range will be reviewing DW ECOs in both .45acp and 9mm, putting each along side similar guns from different manufacturers. I anticipate that part of the series will be coming out this fall, as...
