It's all good Burk.
With my belly the only thing I can hide is a chihuhua.... when I go to the bad parts of town that is.

Im down with the chihuhua. But mine is about 15 yrs old. I might need to get a new one.

I will be interested to see the results of this poll in about 6 months after more of our members have had a chance to vote. I like what I see though.

Obviously, on a website like this one, there is going to be a higher percentage that DO carry. I often wonder when I am out and about just how many people are carrying. I'll bet it is in the single digit percentage (<10%)

Here are some interesting numbers I pulled from the SDA Annual Reports for the last 10 years

Year SDA Licenses Approved
2002 8,799
2003 8,228
2004 17,637
2005 10,450
2006 9,591
2007 16,426
2008 18,510
2009 35,962
2010 27,013
TOTAL 152,616

So there COULD be at least 152,000 citizens out there carrying.

Granted there are some with licenses who don't carry (that's fine) and some probably let their license lapse. This might sound like a lot BUT the population of Oklahoma is 3,687,050

Some more information the OSBI Oklahoma Crime Clock

ONE BURGLARY EVERY 13 MIN 54 SEC (00:13:54)
ONE RAPE EVERY 5 HRS 44 MIN 39 SEC (05:44:39)

ONE AGGRAVATED ASSAULT EVERY 39 MIN 32 SEC (00:39:32)
ONE ARSON EVERY 8 HRS 35 MIN 38 SEC (08:35:38)

Based on Oklahoma crime reports submitted to the OSBI in 2009. May not accurately reflect current crime trends.

OK here are some new numbers from OSBI.

"As of April 2, 2009, Oklahoma has 76,074 active concealed carry permit holders "

So if you add the 27,013 from the 2010 report and 35,962 from the 2009 report and assume they are still active (since they are only 2 years old) That totals 139,049 active licenses. Even fewer than my initial estimate.

That puts, at a maximum, 3.7% of the population with an active concealed carry permit. There are no real numbers for who actually carries but you can guarantee it is a lot less that the number of licenses.

I wanna hear more about Troys man purse....

I used to eat at Katies in Guthrie when we lived up there... and often wondered how I'd escape the cross fire if some nimwit ever decide to rob the place during the breakfast rush.

Ben...not to be argumentitive... as I am a statistical anomaly. I AM the Small midwestern town.... and my extended family has lost 2 members to noted Serial killers, (Bundy and Wournous in Florida) experience several armed robberies and assaults... even a drive by shooting into a Gated community.

You never get to pick the time nor the place....

My wife does not understand my obsession of sitting where I can face the door in a restaurant.
You always look for trouble coming in, never keeping your back to it.

I carry everywhere unless I'm walking around the block with my dogs. If i'm making a quick trip somewhere like to pick up some fast food, I'll carry a gun in a pistol bag and leave it in a car, maybe I need one of those man purses so I could feel more comfortable carrying it inside the restaurant. Sometimes I question why I carry so much, i just answer I refuse to be a victim without some chance of fighting.

Katie's is tactically superior to Cowboy's Cafe. One exit to the front and one exit to the side. PLUS they have awesome pancakes ;)

Burk... at Katies... if there are 20 or so eating... at least 5 will be packing. I like to be way in the back, north west corner, under the TV ....

Cowboy has at least on LEO/ Farrier who eats there often. Can't speak for the rest...

Lemme just thrownthis out there.....in Moore (quiet little Moore, America) we've had 7 armed robberies in the past week or so. Alla were at places you just wouldn't think. And my guys had to use force 5 times this last weekend (3 taser cartridges and two cans of pepper spray I have to replace).

I cannot buy a the I only travel in safe areas argument. No such thing in my mind.

But I certainly respect one's decision not to carry. To each his own.
