Badlands

I recieved a certificate from B.S. for a class at Badlands. I had already taken the Basic sniper and Phase 2 sniper there. I just got back from Badlands Sniper Phase 1. What can i say about Badlands? They are a real class act. They have a great place to learn and great instructors. They are there to make sure you have a firm grasp on what you learn before you leave there. They're always available to answer any questions during or after taking their courses. Now on to the course. The first day there we were in the class room learning how to shoot movers, shoot thru glass, and land navigation. Day two started off with a land nav exercise, a camo exercise, and shooting to get or confirm zeros out to 1k. Day three we finished getting zeros, shot Unknown Distance targets(UKD), and finished off with a night fire exercise. Day four started with qualification to 600 and UKDs the rest of the day. Day five started with shooting movers, then glass, the UKDs, and a finally a test over the information taught during the week. I highly recommend anyone looking for great training to check out Badlands.

What does shooting glass involve?

I really want to take a class out there, But i don't own any of the required hardware.

I need to get my act together and get a bolt rifle and some decent glass.

Take a look at Surgeon Rifles. They are made in Prague, OK. A lot of the F-Class guys shoot them in the 600 yd prone matches at the okcgc.

Since you are likely in my price range, I shoot a Savage 10FCP McMillan. The only mod I've made is bedding the stock and I was shooting 185-190 in 200 point matches. The 10 ring is 1 MOA (6") at 600 yds. My best score was 194-6x last year with hand loads.

Check out Remington or Savage they make quality rifles at a good price. As for glass bang for the buck it is hard to beat the Super Sniper if you are on a budget.

The advice I got was go 243 with a heavy barrel stevens or remington get good stock, the best optics u can afford then shoot until you wear the barrel out by then you will have a good idea of what you want. I went with a 308 Next rifle I build will start with a surgeon action with integrated picatinney rail.
Caliber will be ... (not gonna go there lol)

you may start with a $600 rifle but with optics and upgrades you will spend probably around 3k, just sayin

What does glass do to the path of a bullet?

It depends on the type of glass and the angle you are shooting it. It could deflect and miss the target all together or turn the bullet and make it miss the point of aim.
