Since the 3 gun this weekend calls for some slugs I stopped by Academy to pick up a few boxes and they had none! I ask the guy behind the counter and he checked the computer and they were out :-O he was very helpful as he called the Norman store, Edmond, 63rd and none of them had any slugs. Anyone know where I can pick some up or anyone have some they would like to sell a box? I might try to make it to OAS or H&H tommorrow after work and hope they have a couple boxes of those cheap slugs since they seem to kick less LOL

Anyone want to offer where they pick up slugs or has all the 3 gunners already hit Academy and bought them out? Later,

Kirk

Walmart carries slugs.  Almost every time I've stopped by Academy for bullets they have been sold out of whatever I want.  I had to buy some freaking Hornady LeverEvolution rounds to use in my Desert Eagle once, before I reloaded for it.  I don't even think of trying Academy for ammo anymore, although they do always have a ton of birdshot shotshells.

I ordered some slug from SGammo.com tonight. I'm hoping that they will be here by Saturday. lol... I got emails confirming my order and processing of my order, so we will see. Winchester Ranger low recoil slugs shipped for right around a dollar a shot. They're cheaper if you buy bunch. $53 for 50 shipped. These are my favorite slugs for 3 gun so far.

Wall bought a bunch of low recoil a few months back to resell so everyone would have what they need for 3 gun. Shoot him a pm.

I'm going to take advantage of this post and ask a question.
I am working on getting some kind of slug zero for a 21" Benelli M2.
I am shooting a Modified choke with a single bead front glow. No rear sight.
I shot Sunday morning and Monday afternoon a total of 100 slugs at 50 yards without finding the sweet spot using the bench rest range with a gun rest at OKCGC.
Shooting RIO Low Recoil slugs, 1 1/8 oz.
The last 2 days while tending my bruises and replaying all that shooting I have decided I either need to try different ammo, considering Ranger 1oz slugs as Rusty mentioned or changing the choke.
Seems the combination I have now is throwing the slugs like a knuckle ball, aiming at same spot but hit a wide area.
Now that I am kind of tender I am more interested in making the next shooting trauma the best choice.
Would someone help me make my decision or is there another option.
Different ammo, what one?
Different choke, which one?
Other?
My chest, shoulder and side of my head thanks you.

It took me about 6 different brands to finally find one that worked well in my M1S90. Once I did, I ordered 100 of them! Mine likes the Fiocchi low recoil. I also painted a small white mark at the back of my rib which helps with windage. The Fiocchi's shot dead on, but some of the other were as much as 12" low and left with the same choke.

This is great advice. You might try running you IC, LM, IM, or whatever other chokes you have too. Our smooth bore shotguns were not intended to shoot slugs. You gotta find the sweet spot.

First off most shotguns won't shoot very well off a sand bag or hard surface, like we hold our ARs, It tends to throw the slugs around a bunch. I NEVER rest mine that way and always hand hold it even when "bagged or braced". Try different chokes. a mod should be just fine, but an I.C. in your gun might be the ticket. In general Winchester low recoil, Fiochi Low recoil and Remington Low recoil tend to work the best. You might also try some B&P slugs if your gun will run them. They can be found at Dillon.

SWEET SPOT FOUND !!!!
Thanks guys and especially Kurt.
Holding the fore grip made all the difference.
A lot less trauma.
I ran up to Heartland today and at 25yds put 5 on the bottom circle and a big smile seeing so many together like that, then I moved up to the top circle…I quit right there.

Got my Winchester low recoil slugs from SGammo.com this afternoon! I placed my order about 6:30 Tuseday night and the slugs were delivered at about 3:30 today... I'm really happy with this transaction and look forward to dealing with SG again soon.

My 870 has an adjustable rear sight - regarding shooting at OKCGC, what range is recommended for an all round "zero"?

Thought that I had a good deal on an M1S90 to send to Mike, but it got away.

First go shoot at a 3-5 shot 25, 50, 75, and 100 and see what the drop difference is. Then choose your zero based off of how much drop you want to hold for based on that info.
