It was about the end of September when I called out a member of management as a liar. In a meeting. With 70% of the on site employees present. Repeatedly. Easily provable lies, I had dates, times, and circumstances.
Neither he, nor his superiors appreciated it. Seems they have no sense of humor.
Fast forward a few weeks to job re-assignments. Lo and behold! I get the crappiest of the entire crap fest. I kinda saw that coming, he's a vindictive little fellatio machine.

I lost almost 90% of my Christmas bonus. In my case, the Christmas bonus comes from my customers. All of whom I lost in the aforementioned crap fest.

So, my gun fun fund, is funded by said Christmas bonus. I might just be able to get the 'sleeper' done, but nothing else. I'm kinda pissed. I'd call him out again in a New York minute as a liar. I just gotta keep remembering; Karma is female. Karma never forgets.

Anyway....back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Welcome to the world of "corporate America". Everybody has to decide to what extent they're willing to "play the game". Management in corporate America has got a thousand different ways to screw ya over and/or otherwise "limit" your choices.

They can pimp you over by overt actions and they can pimp you over by their inaction. Ultimately the only real choice one is left with, is to put up with it or leave. And once you got the 'age thing' working against you, you had better truthfully ask yourself who is going to be hurt the mo$t? (hint: it ain't gona be the corporation)

What you outlined--in terms of what just happened to you--doesn't seem surprising (calling out a manager in front of 70% of the company generally isn't going to end well for someone).

Sounds like you might want to look for a different employer where you won't work with dishonest people (and not face the current dynamic).

This will sound extremely harsh. You can't do this. Not like you did it.

I was a headhunter for 25 years. The situation you described ends badly. There is a bullseye on your back right now.
I would brush off your resume, update your LinkedIn profile, and plan where you will draw your next paycheck.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I'm alright at work. Tooting my own horn here, I'm too good to be fired. I'm in the top one percent of my peer group regionally. The top five percent nationally. I've watched these pencil necked desk jockeys come and go. These three won't last another fiscal year. The last two promised to fire me, I watched them get escorted out of the building.
The one I called out was demoted and transferred last month. Revenue under their watch is down, because of poor decisions they've made. I was just ranting because I won't have the fun gun fund I was hoping for.
I already have another job, if I want to take it.

No one is too good to be fired,.......you did place a target on your back. Other managers will be leary of you because of the lack of trust and unwillingness to play politics. Watch your back. I have seen this exact situation play out three times. The little guy was always the one who suffered the most.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I've lived with a target on my back since I started working in 1975. ...you know that little voice inside your head that says 'you shouldn't oughta say that?. Yeah, I don't have that.

I work with a guy just like that! (No filter) He's lucky we works in a union shop or his ass would have been gone a long time ago, he's now been there 27 years.
Great guy otherwise but I get tired of him calling all the bosses liars and full of shiat every time he deals with them. You don't have to to practice philatio or play "the game" to get along with the boss, just sayin.
I actually can get most all the bosses to do as I want without sucking a$$ but by earning respect and treating them likewise. Even when I don't agree or think they are just brain dead dumbasses I get my point across without being rude.

My filter works most times. It broke today. Design/sales made a typo, I am production. Should have been shown to the client, proofed (FFS, the program we use HAS spell check). I was told to print. Production is not the place to spell check...

I so did not make a smart ass sticker with a bunch of typos today. Nope, would not do such a thing.

Sorry to hijack, venting a bit myself. While I agree with you in principle, watch your back.

Dealing with bad bosses is a super pain. I've had more than a few while in the military, and in that setting, there was no calling them out. No matter what the situation, dealing with this crap is enough to drive a guy nuts.
