just pick up some 9mm at walmart, it will run pretty much any brand you pick up there

Winchester at Walmart is the most consistently, quickly available and cheap ammo from a retailer. If you shoot more than 2000 rounds per year, you should really be reloading.

Why?
well... I would need a press, dies, powder, primers, casings, bullets, a room (away from kids and other family members), place to store the flammables so they are safe,and time. 9mm costs about .20 - .22 cents a round at Walmart and Academy, cheaper in bulk. I could justify a much larger caliber and/or customization of a 9mm load. But it really hard to beat .20 - .22 cents a round for a standard factory load.

Ah, you're right. 4K rounds is the break-even point.

The BVAC group buy was about .22 per round for .40 s&w. Even cheaper for 9mm.

Damn Justin er I mean JP that's a lot of shooting every month.
If yu're trying to figure out whether to reload, here's some tips.
First, you have to want to; some few people just hate it.
Second, you only have to amortize the press once, after that the ammo is half price or less, plus you don't have to use a different loaidng everytime you buy ammo. You can standardize.
If you buy a Dillon SDB, figure $400 to start loading, so at 10 cents saving on a 9mm, 4000 rounds pays for the press and startup, and after that you save 10 cents with each pull of the handle. If you load .357 or .44 mag, the savings is greater than the common rounds like 9mm or .40 S&W. My last 1000 rounds of .38 special cost me about $100.
If you buy a Lee turret kit, you can start loading for about $150, but the Diillon is faster and you get free repair parts forever.

The group buy thread for the group buy on BVAC ammo was in the group buy section.
It's already happened and I was told it's the last one for awhile. I'm thinking that means at least until spring but I'm not sure since I'm not the head honcho on that group buy. Of the 300 or so rounds I've shot of it so far it's been good stuff.
