AR-15 opinions

Loki has forged stripped upper/lower combo's for $150. You can't beat that price. As for barrel, I'd recommend a Wylde chamber. Can shoot both 5.56 and 223, but more accurate than a 5.56 chamber.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with most guys here. I would buy a factory rifle in what ever configuration you want, if anything goes wrong with it...send it back. I am partial to D.P.M.S. rifles and Bushmaster....after you run these for a while it will be apparent what you want or need and then you ALREADY have a great platform to build from. If you want to go whole hog at first there is NO reason to think of any builder but J.P. Enterprises. With this systen you get sooooooo much more than LWRC or Noveski, or??? I don't care how many "List,s/Charts" folks throw out, your one stop shop for THE BEST is J.P. Now with that said I have done some amazing things with a fairly stock Bushmaster.. 2 time Euro Rifle Champion, 8 time SMM3g winner, Interservice action arms champion...etc. KurtM

Forged Loki upper and lower were $85 each when I called in my order today - mentioned BS too.

JP you might call and talk to Erik. He did mention that the price of all their stuff was about to go up but I thought th BS price was staying where it was for awhile.

I would agree. For a first rifle, I would buy one complete and ready to go.

We all know that you can't stop with just one, so the next one can be a build.

I talked to Erik via email and on the phone - great guy by the way - and Chris Andersen had me mention his name as well. The price on the forged upper and lower were $85 each plus tax. Shipping was like $12-$15 for up to 5 receivers.

I saw it said 75 on the site, but I was still happy with paying 10 bucks more to support his operation. He was really helpful over the phone and had great advice - he even quoted me the 20in stainless fluted barrel at $250 in .223 wylde.

Did u tell them Mr. Priceless sent you? Lol! I guess they raised the price on everything. Damnit! I was gonna order a couple lowers.

what do y'all think about the 20in barrel? .223 wylde (is that fo real? they got Beowulf, Grendels, Wylde and they are Loki - WTH

I don't see the need for extra weight out at the end of the barrel but KurtM seems to do alright with a 20". You lose a little velocity with the 18" which isn't a problem if you don't paln to shoot out to 800 yards all the time.

Depends on what your using it for. I've carried an M16A1/A2 in one configuration or the other for over 20yrs(1976-1997), Iraq OIF II/III(2004-2006), as a retirement present from my wife, we made the trip to Anniston CMP south an I got myself an M1 Garand. Just a few years ago I decided I wanted an AR, and traded into one. For no other reason than it was something that I'm very familiar, and comfortable with. Its nothing special, just a standard AR15A2 model with full heavy barrel. Just like my 1911A1 and Beretta 92, its something I want to stay familiar with from my time in service. While in Iraq I was issued a Glock 17 as a sidearm, so now I have one of those too.
