My eyesight sucks and I decided to mount optics on all of my .22's. The world is a better place now. Here is my Iver Johnson M1 carbine with a cheap red dot. I was afraid it would look stupid with optics but it doesn't look too bad IMO.

it is actually kind of intimidating.

But, have you thought of something like THIS?

Yes, actually, I couldn't decide between the red dot or the reflex. I went with the red dot for no other reason except all of the reflex sights were Weaver rails (5/8") and this one was dovetailed for a .22 (3/8")

If I stumble across an adapter someday I might try a reflex. I have heard that outdoors they are a little harder to see than the red dot like I have(?)

Burk, I know what you mean with the eyesight. Red dots are a big help to my bad eyes too. Shot an Appleseed the first day with irons, (bi-focals no good) and put on the red dot the next day and helped me immensly. Plus I had more fun when I shot better.

BTW, I think the red dot looks fine on your rifle.

Burk,
The whole rig looks like crap, you should give it to me :D

Looks like your going to take it up a notch at the .22 fun match :cool2:

I think it looks great! My eyes are rapidly going to crap also. SUCKS.

The I/J certainly found a good home.
