OK State .22 & .223 Tactical Rifle Indoor Championship

I shot a few more than 9 rounds on that first target. I kinda had to figure out my mechanical offset for about 40 rounds. LOL!

I actually had two rounds go off with one trigger pull on the Nordic. I don't know what caused it, but it kind of startled me, and others noticed as well.

Wow, what a match !

We had a few more Match Day signups, which put us "over the hump" participation-wise. Clearly, the interest in a .22 Tactical match is there if we got that many people on Memorial Day weekend.

This was a interesting experience for all and everyone said they had fun. For me, it was mostly a learning experience.

While I had posted pictures of the 1" candy wafers and mentioned they'd be shot from 15 yds, not everyone reads this forum. Also, not everyone knows what "mechanical offset" means, much less know how to adjust for it. This is one reason people serious about their gun skills should shoot matches; they learn important stuff about their guns, gear and ammo. Still, hitting a 1" circle at (only) 12 yds even from the prone position proved impossible for many. If we do "plates" in the future, they will be at least 2" and on individual holders.

I had inexplicable jams on Stage 3, even using my high dollar .22 ammo. On Stage 1, I had some faiures to eject, but those were resolved semi-quickly. Of course, NO jams is the goal. Stages 2 and 4 everything worked pretty well and my score on those stages reflect it. But I'm rethinking my division or gun choice for High Plains as a result. It's frustrating to spend a lot of money on something that works correctly some of the time. (My $100 Ruger 10-22 works better) But I'm glad I found out at THIS match than at High Plains.

Still, everyone said they had fun and wanted to do another one.

IF WE DO........

1) It will be more "run and gun" kind of like the pistol matches, but with smaller targets.

2) Rimfire ONLY (the .223 muzzle blast ranged from bearable to WHOA!!!)

3) .22 Handguns allowed (closer shooting positions, if needed)

4) Tubular magazine .22's allowed (no required reload, DRT scoring utilized)

5) Bolt action .22's allowed (DRT scoring)

6) The earliest would be the 5th Sunday in July

Fun match. Not sure which was harder, hitting those difficult to see :( plates or the 4 hour drive home. Looong day.

Will do it again if you have another.

Thanks everyone for putting this on.

haha! Jesse schooled your asses!

Also, I noticed that his score was less than half that of the best centerfire score.

I didn't take a lot of photos, but these few pretty much show what all 4 stages looked like.

We are used to it
We tried to keep him honest, now if I would only have FULLY loaded my 22LR mags AND placed them someplace on my body I could find them the first stage would have been a lot better :D :D :D
