Heartland Carry Gun Match May 15

My carry gun gets full of pocket lint.

Litmus test? Maybe.

Natural talent, superior eyesight, reflexes and prowess usually carries the day.

I'd just like to survive my next car jacking.

First of all, no one should feel unwelcome. No one is saying the shooters wanting to use their Limited or Production competition gear cannot shoot this match. They can and are more than welcome to do so.

Unfortunately, the "where does it stop?" question is addressing the wrong side of the issue. There have been 30 some threads (not posts, threads) detailing the divisions and what guns and features belong in each one. THAT is where that part of the equation stops. If your gun or holster doesn't fit one of these defined divisions, then you'll be placed in "Other," which was created just for you!

What competion shooter signs up for production division and expects to shoot it with fully loaded extended magazines and a BA (Big Ass) magwell using a Ghost race holster?? And if allowed to do so, how is it fair to everyone else who read and followed the rules?

I can agree with that. I think I was more pisses about having to list myself A's OTHER again. It's bad enough that I have to check OTHER on the medical papers with they ask Male or Female.

Just to clarify a CR speed type belt or a magwell or Drop and offset or ghost holster puts you in OTHER? I need a formal description to update the sign in sheet.

Now back to me and Burk going head-to-head

Let's don't call it that.

Most generally, the people with the "race" gear are the people who have been shooting in USPSA for a while. These people are a valuable resource for tips, advice, even help with the match. Do we really want to miss out on all of that by alienating them & making them feel unwelcome?
You are just saying that to be nice, You know you hate Jesse deep down for making us eat dirt. If only he wasn't so dang purrty! J/K

I Know that me and my M&P can do it!

Is there anyone but me and Chambers that shoots their race gun occasionally?

Oh yeah I bought my father-in-law a DOH holster so he's in other now too. That race gear obviously helps him win.

I will shoot other from now on so that someone else can win HI cap or LO cap.

I want to object to that, because there is not very many of "us" that shoot guns that would fall into that category, so I might actually have a chance to win. lol

It's not about who wins, it's about fairness and meaningful comparison.

It's not fair for the guy shooting a stock Glock 19 from an IWB to compete directly against a Glock 34 fwith a BA magwell and extended magazines from a DOH with angled mag pouches, nor can he make a valid comparison to the scores posted by the G-34

Having just shot the 1911 Nationals, it's pretty cool to compare the shooting while disregarding the gear, as it had zero impact on the outcome.

I created "Other" division to allow those shooters that want to utilize this match as a warm-up to do just that.

Its not just the gun that makes you guys good shooters. The gun I shoot with is my Glock 35 that is set up very similar to the G34 you described, I think I placed 13th at the last match, there was only 1 or 2 people shooting "other" guns that placed ahead of me. So that means at least 10 people using carry guns beat me and my "Race" gun.

I am sure that I could shoot a match with a open 2011 and Jesse shooting a G27 and he would still beat me. My point is that having a modified gun does not give you much of an advantage

Yes, it does.

If it didn't, then there wouldn't be 6 divisions in USPSA, 5 divisions in IDPA, 3 divisions in ICORE, etc.

i vote that we put this whole "debate" behind us and move on to more exciting things like...... david you got a cool match planned for 1st sunday of june??
