Carrygun Match THIS Sunday, May 1st

I kinda like those shorter distance, big target -shoot fast stages too. Especially when I shoot a snub nosed gun.

But I got to say.... play it as it's dealt. Shooting in Heartland's light is pure luxury compared to the average parking garage in Dallas or OKC.

Targets with the adversary ADVANCING or the shooter RETREATING are always a good thing- keep those coming. The swingers are fun- but people dont move that way. They have value as a marksmanship drill... and they make folks stretch the comfort zone.

This is a Defensive Carry Gun leaning format after all. I am looking at going to better sights that will work with my bi focals. This is a good learning experience for me.

David, the kytac holster and mag holders worked great. Speed out of the holster was not my problem. Btw, do you make a holster than enhances both speed and accuracy? î"

Regarding the stages and new ideas... I really liked stage 4... Lots of movement while shooting. The portal was cool as well. All the stages were fun though... I think continuing to mix it up is great. Variety is the spice of life! Since I'm new at this... Everything I see will be new. Anything that mimics real life scenarios gives us an opportunity to practice and prepare.

Just a thought... It might be cool to set one of the stages as a static stage... Meaning it stays the same for a period if time (say 4-6 matches). You could change it every quarter. This would allow us to compare our performance on the same stage setup across several matches. That might be interesting. The other stages would vary each match.

Thanks again for doing this.

This was awesome!!! Imuss a great time and met some nice folks. I had no idea how much fun this would be or how much adrenaline would be flowing. As soon as the timer went off... I would take off like a racehorse. As a newbie shooting my first match, I went way too fast. I need to slow down and place my shots a little more carefully... But I took my first steps last night and now I can begin working on learning from my mistakes and improving from here. Thanks to David E. and the ROs, scorekeepers, etc. for putting on a great match!!!

I'll be back...

Here's a video link to one of my stages. It sure seemed like I was moving faster than that. Sandy, did you shoot this video at half speed or something?!?!? :-)
