I was looking up the differences between "F"-marked front sight bases and non-"F"-marked front sight bases, and came upon this little wonder:

It's full of information that is both brief and comprehensive regarding AR characteristics and accessories, pros and cons, and some reviews. It does not have EVERYTHING you could possibly want to know listed, just most of it.

After 3Gunning, I have some idea what changes I'll certainly be making to my rifle (longer barrel and gas system, compensator, fixed stock with recoil pad, eventually an upper receiver with a bolt-carrier mounted charging handle instead of the stupid AR-design charging handle). This website would have informed some of those changes before I made my purchase, so if you don't have an AR AND are planning on getting one or building one, you should breeze through the above link. Unless you already know everything.

Nothing wrong with a standard charging handle setup. The only side charging AR that I would even consider buying is the JP SCR-11.

All the other ones that add mass to the bolt group are no bueno.

I like my Badger Tac latches... Nice and light and something to get ahold of when you need it. "People" say that they break and cause problems but this has not been my experience, ask me how I know. lol.

It's just not ideal. Holding on to an old design because it's original is retarded. No one drives a steam-powered car anymore. It's more useful and time-saving to have a fixed bolt handle in a position further forward than the AR handle. I may not end up doing it, because of certain complaints of end-users, but that JP suggestion looks good. I'd rather not have the FAL-style folding handle, though. I think once I get the newbies out, going for speed will by my main concern after better pistol accuracy on moving targets.

Well elephant dung. I shoot a pistol made mostly out of components designed in the early 1900s. I better let all the GLOCK shooters know that they should be beating me.

If you're concerned with the time differential between a side charger and a standard charging handle (which is very, very minimal) and you actually need to use it during a stage, you're hosed anyway.

Is this match going to happen? I think Pinto said he had a really important match that he was going to, so he couldn't do it next month. I told him that if Jesse wanted to do it, I'd help him with it. But, then I remembered that I'd be at TDSA that weekend.

I hope it's on, it'd be a shame for everybody to have to miss the best match in the region.

Most big chassis rifle concerns are between AR-10 and LR-308. I bought a DPMS rifle because companies like JP and Fulton Armory make parts that fit the LR-308 platform and it uses the new 308 Pmags.

I just went through a great mental journey with my LR-308 so if you have any specific questions I can probably direct you to a resource than will help.
