Yo bros! Pay attention when reloading , even if you’ve done it thousands of time in the past

How to F- Up your Dillon 550 B. Or, I am a knucklehead, reason no. 13.

1. Put pullet in case mouth of brass that is in the powder charge, mouth flaring position.

2. Operate handle.

3. Wonder why it was so hard to pull and wonder what all that noise was.

4. Try again.

5.
Stop, take apart loader.

6. What? That looks like a bullet in the powder drop tube!

Say favourite curse words. Repeat step 7 as needed.

what is wrong with this picture?

The bullet was easy to remove from the powder drop tube. I think I invented a new kind of Semi Wad Cutter.

Some of the hardware got bent out of whack. I’ll have to send it back to Dillon, especially after I tried to fix things which only made things worse.

Luckily I have just enough rounds to shoot the SS Nationals, but none to practice with. Oh the joy of making your own ammo!

that sucks man! luckilly i haven't made any mistakes like that on mine yet....YET! when i'm reloading, i have to make sure the kids aren't in the garage with me and that i have no distractions. so far, so good....

Sux for you. I don't even play a radio when reloading. its too easy to make a screw up, and potentially cause a problem that could be disasterous.

Ah yes. This should not be confused with another common mistake in reloading and self gunsmithing or even automotive work known as, "It seems hard to turn, so turn harder." AKA "Crossthread initiated, engage torque."

That's the truth!!! Even though I know it's not right...it's so hard to resist the temptation of wanting to turn/push harder!!!

please explain why.
The 1050 funnel is generic, it only bells the case mouth, and can be used for most pistol calibers. It doesnt expand the case. Also, you will see the 'snap' on the upstroke disappear. Its a small difference, but it does make the reloading process just a bit smoother. I've been using it for a while, it seems to make a bigger difference with 9mm than .40
YMMV, but I like it.
I first read about it here:

Case mouth flair only is ok if your loading jacketed bullets, but if your loading cast the case needs to be expanded so it will not reduce the size of the cast bullet when seated into the case, to small a cast bullet and you get leading in the barrel.

Good thing to look out for... but this has not been my experience. However, I'm using moly coated bullets (BBI)
