Rifle Compensator Testing and Reviews

Sounds good - saves me from buying the sound thingie - I may get the 30 dollar one just to see what it reads for the hell of it. I already have a vendor willing to give us some to test after the shot show - the video i think is the key to seeing which one really reduces muzzle flip the most

I just fell asleep reading this thread. I think we take turns shooting the gun and the other guy stands next to the gun and switch places once for each comp. Then we rate the double tap we just felt. The shooter and bystandard both uses a rating scale from 1-5. Easy does it;)
Or have a guy (the same guy) take a few double taps & measure the distance between them, then average that for a score. Do this for each comp. Kind of a easy way to compare muzzle movement.

What rifle/caliber will you be mounting the compensator on? I have the POF*USA tri-port brake on my 308 and believe it or not, it greatly reduced the recoil to the point that I would say that it has the recoil of an AR-15 now. No joke! I couldn't believe the difference it made in the amount of recoil that I feel now.

You can get the .223/5.56 brake for $89 and the .308/7.62 brake for $71.

I think the video will show the most - I figure put a piece of plywood to the left side of the shooter - video from the right side. Have marks on the ply wood in 1 inch increments in paint or whatever - to really see which one rises the most

Troy can maybe speak up here - my opinion on the "clearing a house" part - I would imagine if it came to an actual shootout that adrenaline would be so much that they probably wouldn't even notice the sound of the rifle. I know when hunting the few big bucks I have killed - I never even heard my 300 mag go off. I think realistically we should measure it as how it affects the SHOOTER primarily.
I hear what you are saying, but does your .300 mag have a comp on it? I've heard every shot on deer that I've taken and it really doesn't bother me since the sound is going down range. And I've shot a friend's .300 Weatherby both with and without it's brake. It's bad without it, but with it is, well...You just have to feel it to believe it!

I shot my SBR outdoors, underneath the tin awning at Tri City, and forgot to put plugs in once. Self-correcting mistake.

I can't imagine shooting something like that indoors.

Hell yeah. We'll add the Battlecomp to the mix as well. Any more big ones we're missing?

I'm thinking about buying a Nordic Corvette for kicks, too. I can put it on my 7.5" gun afterward. Talk about loud...

Hopefully there will be a Rolling Thunder on my 10.5" rifle by this weekend. lol... Loud indeed.

Jesse helped me get a shiny new Rolling Thunder comp installed on the ole rifle tonight. I can;t wait to try this thing out!

For those that don't know, this is my 10.5" rifle that I've been using for 3-gun and rifle matches. I'm hoping for some recoil reduction for much flatter shooting.

Oh crap. Jesse helped? Better make sure it is on right-side-up! :)

That's funny right there. Even if you are hindu, that's still funny..

BTW Rusty, I think you need a much bigger vise for the AR! hahhahahahaahaaahahaha...

See you tomorrow buddy!

Holy sh*t. I don't think you should be allowed to shoot that thing Sunday! The concussion will be upsetting the shooters on the bays next to it!

Seriously tho that is badass

There is a slight possiblilty that I'll be shooting it a H&H tonight... So we will see how loud it is. lol...

My goal with this is to get the rifle to shoot flatter and the break will hopefully help.

Sorry!

The 2nd Rolling thunder you see on the bench is slated to be attached to my JP CTR-02 once I can get the time to take it and my rifel to Mr. Accurate Iron to have it turned down a bit so it clocks correctly on my barrel.

I tried this brake on my .243WSSM upper. It was certainly quieter, and advertized a 25% drop in recoil.
My gun just didn't like it, and wouldn't shoot any groups at all. Tried everything from .55 grain to 100 grain. Took it off, and the rifle shoots fine.

I just installed the Primary Weapon Systems FSC30 on my new POF .308 but I have yet to get it to the range, due to waiting on the Atlas V8 bipod that should arrive next week. I was very impressed with the video and I'm anxious to see the results when I can get to the range.
