We have settled on Sept. 17th for our match this year. For those of you that have come in the past, it will be COMPLETELY different this year. Gone are the animal cutouts and all that bsing time. This year we are going with a walking style match. Both members of the team must shoot and each team member could need (if you really suck) 150 rounds! you will need a min of 75 rounds if hit everything the first time.

Had to up the entry a little b/c I have to buy alot of steel to make this work. Also putting a cuttoff date of July 31 so we can get the money in and get the targets bought, built and setup in time. Still only allowing 30 teams. Don't like to but gonna have to be really strict on that this year b/c that is all we have room for w/15 stations.

Below is the flyer. [color:#FF0000]Prizes are what was given away last year. They will be different but comparable.[/color] I will update the flyer and prizes as I get commitments from vendors. Should have somewhere around $40-$50,000 worth of stuff to give away!! Prizes will be given in pairs just like in the past. I think this will be our best one yet!!

Hmmmm, now I need to think of another excuse. Actually I don't want to embarrass myself since I have never shot long range before. Maybe I'll just come out and watch.

Get a good, accurate rifle (bolt or gas) and we can get you trained up in time so you don't make a fool out of yourself. Heck I still make a fool out of myself about half the time :) That's why it's so much fun. If it was too easy everyone would do it.

Since the title is HUNTING challenge I'm assuming that this is geared towards real hunting rifles at practical ranges. But just for clarification, exactly what kind of long range are we talking about here? I have some very accurate HUNTING rifles but if this is shooting 1000 yards then I'm out!

Even though the prize tables at these type matches are epic. The entry fees are to rich for my blood and skill level. I need a lot more trigger time on my rifles to actually "know them". My data/log books help but I still need more wind practice. Jesse if your really wanting to go I'll have that 7mmRM built by then for ya.

I'm sure there will be some from the surrounding states but idk about all over

Bringing in great shooters from all over the country is our goal. There will be some guys from UT, TN, MO, TX, KS, LA, AR and of course OK. I'm sure I missed some. I will tell you that I don't care where you go in the country, you won't find a better bunch of shooters than we have right here in OK. I'm not saying we're better than anyone else but definately just as good.

As far as it being a hunting match, it is and isn't. You won't see your grandpas BDL 30-06 out there but all the rifles will be guns that these guys take hunting. Whether it be coyote or big game. The hunting name really came from the animal cutouts we have used in the past. While I really like the look of those it is WAY too much work to set up and a few of them always break as the match goes along. With the new format, we can get ALOT more shooting in and that is a good thing!

Ranges will be out to 1000 yds but most targets will be between 400 and 700 yds. Is that a practical hunting range? To me it is. To some it's not. This is how I hunt. I always have a partner and I set up for long shots so I don't have to worry about spooking game. The partner or "spotter" you have can be more important than the shooter and that is why I have always made it a "team" match.

Wow - I wanna try this - pyp - I'll need to use your range and expertise to train for thus!

The range I have and you welcome to come shoot on it... But I'm far far from an expert. I would classify myself as a novice. I've only been playing around in this LR shooting for about a year and a half but the first time you hear the delay from your shot to hearing the steel ring your hooked!
