i went to the range to zero in my gun and at 10 yards it was shooting about 1.5 inches low (and before you say, well it is you, i shot my XDM and it as all over the target)... any suggestions on what i can do?? i shot two competitions with it and i was low CONSISTENTLY. But i don't have that problem with my XDM, so i am frustrated because i love the gun, i just can't shoot high with one gun and "on target" with the other...

Are you running stock sights? The only advice I can give you, other than telling you to aim high, is to upgrade the rear sight to a Dawson adjustable, or similiar upgraded sights

1.5" low isn't too bad. I've had to switch between my 1911 that shoots about 3" high at 15 yards and my M&P that shoots about 3" low at 15 yards before, that sucks.

Yeah 1.5" low is not too bad, as long as you aim for the center of the target, your shot will stay in the A ring, unless it is a longer distance shot, or bullseye competition

Won't filing the rear sights make it shoot lower? I was thinking you file the front sight to raise the sight picture.

You are correct! You move the rear sight in the direction you want the bullet to go. I'll fix the other posts so A's not to confuse anyone.

So you would need a taller rear sight or a shorter front. Try filing the front down.

M&P stock sights are not the best. If you line up the dots, you'll notice that the top of the front sight is not flush with the top of the rear sight. You must ignore the dots and make the front sight post flush with the top of the rear sight notch. This should bring your hits back to true point of aim. Sighted properly, the dots on stock M&P sights (or at least the ones on my two M&Ps) make an inverted 'V'. This, of course, is assuming that you're lining up the dots for your shots as you would on your XD.

If I'm not mistaken the Pro series have a fiber front and plain rear. At least my 9 pro had that from the factory.

I'm pretty sure you need a new front and rear. The stock front us too short for the Dawson adjustable rear. Cyrwus will know for sure. This is exactly why the 9L with save you money over the 9Pro for those of you in the market for the 9mm.

Ahh, so. See I have only seen one Pro which had the fiber front but I thought it was a mod. The 9L, 9 and 9C that I've had all had the stock irons.

So my advice was completely worthless to you, Benjamin, but maybe it fixed someone else's 6 o'clock impacts.

I had this issue with the stock sights on my 9 pro. It makes sense the 40 has the same issue. For the longest time I had to line up the top of the rear sights with the middle of the green dot to get a straight shot. That act is something very.. odd, to me. As a result, I did a bunch of research and found a big thread about it on the Enos forums.

Luckily, the solution for me was very easy. I ordered the Warren Tactical S&W M&P Fiber Optic Front Sight, .115 wide X .165 tall for $36.95 from the guys at http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/

This not only brought my shots up to where they should be, but it also solved the other issue - long range shots. The factory FO sight on the Pros is .115 on the far (barrel) end and .130 on the near end. For me, this made it tough to sight up those 30+ yard shots that certain match directors seems to love to put in matches. With the .115 wide blade, it is much easier to line them up. The Warren also has a smaller diameter FO rod, but if you mushroom the end before inserting it into the sight, it ends up being roughly .115 wide anyway... about the same as the factory FO.

Research it, but this solution worked wonders for my issue. If you shoot in T-town, you're welcome to check mine out.

I know i saw that thread on enos also, looks like i am far from the only one with the problem!! Cyrus is going to install some dawson adjustable on it... The next time i will be in tulsa you won't want me to touch your gun, i am doing the warriors dash, so i will be covered in mud!!!
