About the Donation Give Away

Ok Guys,

It seems that we are taking a lot of flack for what we are doing on the donation give away. The give away initially started off with 100% of the proceeds going to sponsor a local major match which we have already agreed upon. After we announced and started the give away project - it was brought to our attention that we should use some of the funds and donate to the Chad Peery Fund. We decided that this would be a great idea and split everything in half. Well now it appears that we are the bad guys by deciding to only donate 50% of the funds to the Chad Peery fund while the other 50% still goes to the ORIGINAL cause of the Donation Give Away.

So here is the question - do we keep it how it is - 50% to the match and 50% to the Chad Peery Fund - or do we use 100% for the match - we have already agreed to the sponsorship first so that is the top priority. If we decide to go back to 100% to the match - we will refund anyone that wants us to. We feel though that splitting the money 50/50 is a win win for everyone.

Well it appears that people out there feel we are just using the Chad Peery Fund to bring in more money for JT and I to put in our pockets. Every time we try to do something good we get turned into the bad guy.

I think the 50/50 split is a good thing. Like you said all the money was going to go a match, and then we hear about this incident and make the decision to donate half of it to the Chad Peery fund.

Some people just like to cat lady about everything. I do say we need to keep it 50/50. it would not be right to go back on the word that half of the money donated, and keep it all for the match. just my .02

No one is twisting their arm to get in on the donation give away. If they want to donate to the CP fund, then what's stopping them from doing just that. The way I see it is that it's your house, your rules.

Leave it how you got it now and tell those nay sayers :sign0090:. If it truly becomes a problem and they don't want anything to go to the Peery fund then so be it I guess, It really is their loss.

I agree with this. There are many ways to donate to the Peery family. If you have a problem with one, use another.

that's ridiculous. stating that some of the funds were going to charity came up well after the thought of the giveaway/raffle/donation. i think a 50/50 deal is awesome. just goes to show you can't make everyone happy all the time, so there's no sense in trying to do so!

If they dont want the chance to win a FREE pistol, but want to donate. All of the MECU credit unions are set up to take donations as well

Keep it 50/50 - just make sure everyone knows that only 1/2 is going to the Peery Fund

I think you're doing a good thing donating half to the Peery fund. You could have posted on the OSA board that you were donating 100% of the donations and they would still find something to gripe about. You're doing a good thing, and I'm sure the Peery family is very gracious for what you guys are doing.

Keep it 50/50. If whoever doesn't like it, they don't have to donate. I can't beleive they think it's going to go into your pockets, how friggin rediculous is that. You guys are doing everything you can to run a great website and get shooting matches together in order to benefit all of us here and that takes money sometimes.
I for one will start to do donations occasionally when I have the extra scratch just to help out with what's needed to keep a fun and friendly shooting community alive.
Some people are gonna cat lady no matter what you try to do.

I agree with what others have already said; people will find anything to gripe about and if they can't find something, they will create something.

The initial plan was to use the proceeds to sponsor a match and NOW, we've decided to split it and give half of the proceeds to the Peery Fund and people want to complain because you're being charitable?! Tell them to go piss in the wind and if they bring that crap here, give them a permanent ban.

I've made a donation to the Chad Peery Fund (http://www.chadpeeryfund.org/). I hadn't intended to donate to the BS Donation Give Away since I wouldn't win anyways.

Having said this, the original purpose of the Give Away was for sponsorship of matches and it was presented under that premise. Therefore the donations should go towards that purpose. And those who wish to give donations to the Peery Fund can do so through the above link.

50/50 is the way to go.

Notice the people who have a problem with 50/50 haven't chimed in yet. They are probably busy finding something wrong with someone else right now and will have to get back to us.

Keep on doing what you do Brandon and JT, just don't win the raffle. :unsure:
