I have a STI GP6-C
C is for competition.
I got this gun after Thanksgiving 2010.

First, the mags would not latch into place.
STI warranty told me I needed to reduce the height of the polymer foot of the mag.
So I D&A all 3 mags, and found out how hard that material is but reduced the height so the mag would insert high enough too latch into place. That problem is gone.

Second, I start practicing and after 200 rounds I noticed the pin, which is a solid metal pin, in the rear sight was walking out the side of the slide.
I called STI and they told me they were replacing those with roll pins, they mailed me one right away and it was a good fix, again.

Third, NOW, you have to realize Sunday the 20th of Feb, 2011, I experience my AR failing at a rifle match. You might say that would should not have a bearing on the post but for a new guy, going to the next match, Saturday, Feb 26th, 2011 and in the middle of the 3rd stage, in front of God and everyone else, the dang hammer breaks off??????????
Is there a limit on how many problems you have to deal with in a short period of time on a new gun?
I feel sure that STI will make this good.
I am in the process of contacting STI about this, but more down time when I should be getting ready to shoot again.
Is this the SOP, standard operation procedure in the gun world?
If this was a car; 3 more issues and they buy it back.
Any advice, suggestions most welcome.
I have already been told to buy another gun.
I have hi-resolutions if anyone is interested.
Michael

wow that sucks.. i am sure that gun was not cheap... but you really have no chance of "getting a refund"...

I really don't expect a refund either, my lemon law theme was a way to vent saying or asking, how much is to much?
The gun shoots real good for me when it works.
It could create a reliability question.
I have sent my info into STI and will update how they handle it.

I really like STI. I'm sure they'll take care of you. It sucks about your pistol, but I've got to think it's not the norm. I've had great experience with their stuff.

I'm glad to hear that, I was needing some reinforcement.

well maybe next time just buy a hi point and you will have less problems!! i really feel for you... it sucks spending a bunch of money on a gun, being all excited and it not working properly..

I have to say the warranty guys seem concerned and said they would not let it sit down there, Texas, for 2 or 3 weeks so I could get back to shooting ASAP.
It leaves in the morning

Give them a chance to get it right, all guns go through a break in period (not actually breaking but seating in). STI customer service really is one of the best in the industry.

1. Could be worse, you could own a Para (Oh I'm just kidding!)
2. The GP6 platform showed a lot of promise but hasnt proven itself yet as a competitive gun.
3. STI will bend over backwards to make you a happy customer.

I wish I had a slo mo of it leaping in the air and floating down to the ground. And then a close up of the RO's face that seemed to ask, Why did he quit shooting it was good till then, of course I would have to edit the language a bit. But it would have been.. classic. Good luck rdd. I was the short fat score keeper. B)

No you're not!!

I'm not a GP6 fan, but I love me some STI. Let us know how it goes.

Shipped today, I believe they will treat me right.
The aggravation is something I need to manage.
STI has been great to work with and I am thankful for that.
Will keep you posted.

UPDATE from STI;
I shipped the item 2nd day delivery March 1st.
That put it in there shop Thursday March 3rd.
They were trying to contact me yesterday, March 8th.
That is 3 business days at the most.
It is fixed and being shipped today. It is under warranty but I still was glad to hear,
NO CHARGE...AND a free T-shirt, a patch and an extra magazine for the trouble.
Folks, you couldn't ask for better customer service.
They get an A+ from me.
