Which Glock for Concealed Carry

I have a Glock 17 right now. I want to get David Elderton to make me one of his Kytac holsters for OWB CC. Before I do so I thought I would ask you guys who carries a G17 and have you tried the G19 or G26. I'd like to start with the best platform for the job. I like shooting the G17 size wise but I have only handled the smaller frame models briefly and have never shot them. So I don't know how the size affects shootability. I am looking for advice on the shootability vs. carryability onteh big vs. small guns. I plan to use just T-Shirts and sweatshirts for concealment if possible. Any help suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Well, you know I carry a G26 and highly recommend it for carry and conceal-ability. That being said, lots of people prefer the G19/23 compact guns because they are only a little bit bigger and give more capacity. I have a carried a G23 a lot and didn't really find it all that concealable but many people have had good results with them. To me the G26 is just the right size and weight for a carry gun, for me.

The G26 vs G19 argument is almost as passionate as the Glock vs 1911 threads.

You can shoot my G26 whenever you want but I will tell you they are "different" than the big Glocks, but for a carry gun, I can give up a little of the shooting comfort for the ability to conceal it more easily.

[EDIT] Since you are going to carry it OWB the barrel length might come into play more. In which case the sub-compact Glocks might have an advantage. If David make the holster ride higher it may not be much of an issue

I just ordered a G19 and I am having TroyF make the holster for it. I carry a Springfield XD Sub C 9 right now. The gun we are using in our videos is the G23. So, I have handled and concealed it with ease. In every video to date we our wearing it. So, with all of the movement and training it still carries well.

I have had all 3 regular sizes of Glocks, and came to this conclusion. If I could carry my G26, I could carry my G19. My dream carry gun? One day I will have Mike cut a G19 frame down to take G26 mags. Saw this before (I think he was the one who did it) and it would be perfect.

Well I know you are asking about 9mm Glocks. But I have a Glock 22, 23, and 27. They are all the same size as the ones you mentioned but just in .40S&W. You would be more than welcome to handle them if you want and shoot them.

I would reccomend if you are going with OWB carry, that you go with the G19. Since you are a smaller guy, the G17 will be harder to conceal.

i carry a glock 23 iwb, and a mag, iwb.

stays pretty concealed to me.. i don't like the smaller framed glocks well enough to buy one.

I use a G17, but I use a crossbreed super tuck. It conceals very well. You and I are pretty much the same size and I found out the owb didn't work to well for me without a small frame gun because most t-shirts are hard to find long enough to cover the muzzle when I lift my arms to reach for something higher than my shoulders. If I get them big enough for the added length it looks like I'm wearing a tent.

I carry IWB and OWB a Glock 23. For me, the Glock 19/23 conceals just as easily as a 26/27. It just all depends on how you carry your gun and if the longer grip prints for you or not. For me and the way I carry, it doesn't print at all.

I used a G17 in a OWB holster at the Heartland match on Feb 20th, and it disappeared under an unbuttoned short-sleeve shirt. I'm your height and 175 lbs with clothes on, so you should be able to roll with a G17 if you want. When I finally get into CCW, I'm not sure what I'll end up carrying, but baggy shirts seem to cover everything. Heck, I walked around all day with my Deag in a shoulder rig under a heavy flannel shirt to see if my brother could spot it, and he never did (at his house, no law-breaking). That being said, carrying a 4 and 1/4 lbs pistol all day is NOT recommended.
