We all know that open carry is back in the news but from reading posts here and other sites it seems that most folks dont know that more than 1 bill dealing with open carry have been introduced. So I thought Id list them here and see how everyone feels about each one.

HB1400 basically urestricted open carry over age 18

A. A person shall be permitted to carry loaded and unloaded shotguns, rifles and pistols, open and not concealed and without a handgun license as authorized by the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act, Sections 1 through 25 of this act, pursuant to the following conditions:....

..... 6. When carried in a holster that is wholly or partially visible or in a scabbard or case designed for carrying firearms that is wholly or partially visible and the person is eighteen (18) years of age or older; or

HB1470 looks to be the same bill from last year that was vetoed by Gov Henery

HB1796 looks to be the same as HB1470 but it would put it on the ballot for the 2012 general election instead being sent to the Gov.

Here is the link if you want to look upand read the full text of each bill:

Thanks for the info! I think this would help the anti gunners see the light. Normal people, men and women, some they might even know carry everyday yet their guns have killed nobody. It would be a great deterent to crime and I hope it passes.

I really hope 1400 passes. I don't suspect that I would ever open carry, but hopefully enough people would so that it could work to reverse the stereotype and unnecessary fear of guns that the general public has.

I agree 1400 is the best of the three. I know alot of people that dont think its a good idea but it is working in other states so why wouldnt it work here.

Yeah, my whole adult life I've been baffled as to how guns became so demonized in Oklahoma, yet states like Vermont or New Hampshire are okay with open carry.

Vermont became a state in 1791... no regulation or permit required for open or concealed carry.

Oklahoma became a state in 1907... permit reguired and state regulates method/type of carry.

Now consider the political philosophies that were predominant for each state at the time each was admitted to the Union.
