Any long range matches in OK

I read about one a while back on Snipers hide. It was a multi day multi location deal. Sounded pretty cool! I wish I could get those guys to join us and share what they do. I'd like to try some sort of action sniping hybrid match. Something for the long range .223 or AR10 would be cool.

I know one of the guys who worked on this multi-day, multi-location shoot so I will try to get some info.

The only one I know of is down by Blanchard. But It's 4 or 5 hundred yards shooting 4" balloons. I missed it this last year because of a prior appointment. I was just wondering if there were any else.

Please do. Get him to post the matches here too please. I know I don't have the gear to shoot such a match yet but I would like to attend a match to learn more about the guns, gear, and skills necessary to participate in these sorts of matches.

There are high power prone matches at the OKC Gun Club. Basically three strings of 20 rounds slow fire at 600 yds. The matches are open to all.

Hey there Will. Put down that 1903 or whatever and come shoot the January 3-gun match. You can use my long guns if you need to.

Thanks Chambers. 1903? That's funny. I might take you up on that offer until I get a 3-gun set up figured out.

It's still 6 months away but there's a Full-Auto shoot and also a sniper match coming up in June.

That is a very vague match announcement. Have you shot the match before?

Negative. In fact, I only heard about it and viewed the website a couple weeks ago. You can see all sorts of videos of the past dates here - http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=oklahoma+full+auto+shoot&aq=0

The matches at the OKCGC are the 3ed sat starting at 9. Sign up is at 8:30. Come on out.

The OKCGC has long range matches http://www.okcgunclub.org/highpower/highpower.html The have lots of different ones high power and F class.

i have been looking for a match like this (OKCGC) couple of questions
1. it is every 3rd saturday, correct??
2. what time does it usually get done?
3. how many rounds do you usually need?
4. if i have an ar15 with a 3x acog on it, is that good enough??
5. anything else i need to know before i shoot this match??

I shot the OFASTS "Sniper Shoot Tactical Competition" for the first time last year.
The event is about 20 miles east of Miami, OK.
Show up at the event at 10-11 a.m. The match starts after lunchtime.
From what I heard at the match, it's basically the same course of fire every year.

The range is about 2/10-mile from the full-auto shoot.

Stationary B27 targets set at various distances out to 500+ yards. Nothing was farther than 600 yds.

Shooters are given a few minutes to range the targets (mil or laser) and work up a range card.
Two shooters climb onto a flatbed trailer, flop down to prone, and start banging away. 2 rounds on each target.
20 rounds total.
Shooter with best time/hit score wins.

Last year, there were about 15-18 shooters, ranging from kids with deer rifles to a couple of hard-up police snipers looking for a challenge.

It's not really what I'd consider a tactical sniper match and it's a long way to drive (from OKC) for 2-3 minutes of action.

But if you're into machine guns, and have lots of $$ for ammo, you can spend the day blasting away at junked cars and stuff.

Bring lots of water and tick repellant.

Full auto vs. precision single shot placement is quite a contrast.

the full auto shoot is awesome.... everyone should go once... i shot a jeep at 150 yard with a barrett .50 cal, shot washers and dryers with mp5, glock 18, fs2000, SAW, got to see a flamethrower.... the full auto portion is really cool, not something i would do every year, but you should do once.... watch this video
