I heard PSA is setting up production for steel case ammo on a large production scale. Pretty good business move if it pans out. The price will have to be decent, and they will have to deliver consistently.

Locally mid west area

7.62x39 is $8+ - $13 per box of 20
Same 223
9mm about $17 box 50

A lot of on line sales. See ammo seek.

I never cared much about steel other than 762x39. However, people who did buy a lot of the other calibers may someday put a strain on already tight conventional brass market.

On a side note, I don't buy into all the new gun owner stuff affecting the market much. Sure, they are going to buy some ammo when they get their firearm. At millions of guns, that can be a lot of ammo, initially. I don't think most new gun owners will be in it for the long haul. We love the rights/culture/hobby and most have been involved long term. Even at that rate, it takes some effort to stay in the game overall.

One type ammo I do not see for sale is the Millions of rounds of the Norinco bought for pennies per round.
Looks like it's staying in place with the preppers for now. This looks like new imports.

One thing for sure is when you open a spam can of that copper clad stinky China Sports aka, mil surplus ball ammo, it will fire for sure.
Just clean you AK with hot soapy water often.

I've seen plenty of people buying up steel case ammo that at one time swore it was junk and they wouldn't use it. The way I look at it, do I like it, not really. But, wars have been fought with it. It'll go boom.
Right!

I bought cases of 7.62x39 steel case for my AKs at around $215/1000
I have purchased some steel cases 380acp, 9mm and 45acp just to make sure my firearms will work with it. I remember having the steel case/brass case argument a few years ago and I said I wouldn't own a firearm that won't shoot steel cased ammo! You never know if that'll be all you can get when the need arises.

this is why I encourage others to learn to hand load. Save your brass, & buy components when they go on sale,..been doing this for yrs, &
I'm never out of ammo.. for any of my firearms.

I bought some steel cased tula / wolf 223 for a cheap upper I bought, as it was selling for a good price, + free shipping, if you bought a quantity.
I never fired 1 rnd of it thru it. thru my upper. The ammo "shortage" came, & I sold almost all the steel cased ammo I bought.
Probably have 1 -2 hundred left, out of about 2K+ I bought. Money from sale is back in my "component fund".. though a couple orders from DG bullets & Bayou bullets took a healthy bite from the fund..Then again,. I've got a good supply of pistol bullets on hand, ready to load. ;)
