I was 10 when my Troop first got to shoot the great M1 it was our Fathers rifle. Like smoking my first Camel filter less at 8 but it had a whole different kind of kick LOL.
Even today I like to get my M1 out, grab a can of M2 in bandoleers & fire for effect at 200 yards.

Another good website for the M1 Garand.
USRIFLECAL30M1.com
I should elaborate on this website, as it goes into the history of the M1 Garand, it also documents the part number of every part in the M1 Garand, documentation on Serial Numbers and Production Dates, including Manufacturers. I used it to replace the bolt on my M1 Garand to a Period Specific Bolt, was a pain to find the right part number for the bolt, this site made it easier.
