Got my Kimber Stainless II Long Slide in 45.

Upgrades coming…

Shoots good. Feels softer than my 5". Finish is excellent. Fitment is good. First mag ran without a hiccup. Slide locked back on empty as it should.

I took my 5" to the auction house. Didn't feel the need for it with a 6". I heavily modified the 5". I'll do this one differently.

The 5" 45 Stainless II at the top, followed by my 9mm Rapide, followed by by 10mm Stainless II

Not sure what all I'll do to this one. I did order another set of Southern Trapper "Battle Axe" grips. Magwell cut purple/blue dyed gator leather. I put that same set on my Dan Wesson. Really like them. I think the black was too plain. There were other colors but I like the color on stainless.

Those Southern Trapper grips are on a Black Friday special for $112. They are usually $149. If you want a set of leather grips, it'd be a good time to order. I might try elephant leather next.

What it looks like now. What I did to it... Replaced the grips with the Southern Trapper "Battle Axe grips. Its blue dyed alligator leather bonded to hardwood. Installed new Klonimus checkered, stainless mainspring housing with integrated magwell, Mecgar mag with extended polymer follower for smoother operation and support all the way to the chamber and base plate extension.

I'm thinking about getting 1 in 10mm.
I'd bought a Girsan hunter from my LGS. Biggest pos I've ever had. He offered me a total credit towards anything else.
He has a like new G40 Mos used, but I've never been a glock fan.

Well, if you decide you want a 45, this one is for sale. I've since installed a full length guide rod in it. Still only has 2 mags run through it just to test functionality. Going to run ya about $1200 the way it sits. I had 26 1911's. Been downsizing.

here's a copy of what i'd posted on a local gun site, on buying a 10mm :

Have you been thinking about Purchasing a 10mm pistol ?
I see fairly often in the WTB forum, people looking for, & WTB 10mm handguns.
I wonder how much thought goes into their selection process, and decided I'd offer some of my thoughts to consider,
if you find yourself contemplating adding a 10mm pistol to your collection.

I'll start off by confessing that I've owned a 10mm ..(Colt Delta Elite) for > 20 yrs. so my considerations are experience based.
A few things to consider, when buying a 10mm firearm (if you haven't already).. 1st : do you hand load ?
If not..I'd consider something else, for several reasons.

Shortly after I bought my 10mm, I purchased a case of Norma 10mm, ( the original company to factory load 10mm ammo ) .. & it isn't sold anymore.
It's 180 gr loads are loaded to 1200 fps. per the box. "true" 10mm ammo (loaded to it's max potential ) is very expensive..and very hard to find in stock, locally. Not going to find 10mm ammo @ Walmart or Meijers. In fact , the only 10mm ammo I found in stock locally, was at Accurate Firearms ,
near the club where I shoot. https://accuratefirearmsllc.com/
Much of the "cheap-er"10mm that you'll find for sale is loaded closer to 40 S&W velocities, maybe a just little hotter.

Anytime you buy 10mm ammo ( unless you want the ammo for the cases to hand load ).. Check the velocity of what you're buying!,
if you want 10mm performance. I use the MidwayUSA website. Most the ammo they list will have the velocity stated, if you look for it.

If you want full power 10mm ammo, you'll pay a premium for it..brands like Underwood & Buffalo Bore go for $1.50-2.00/ rnd. or more.
This isn't an issue, if you hand load, but If you have to rely on factory ammo, be aware of it's (lack of) availability, & cost.

I decided to post this, as I feel many buying a 10mm firearm are not aware of the points that I've written, & this is why you see 10mm pistols listed FS as used guns that have had little use. Hope this info of of help top those considering a 10mm pistol purchase.

Well, if you sharing that for me, this ain't my 1st rodeo with 10mm.
My 1st was a brand new Javalina. That should put things in perspective.
In addition, I have/had G29, SA XDM COMPACT, SA TRP OPERATOR, DW RAZORBACK, DW VBOB X 2, DW VALOR, DW SPECIALIST, CMMG BANSHEE.
Some of your info isn't quite accurate.
As to ammo cost ... it depends.
I almost always buy my ammo in bulk, on sale, online.
Just bought some Sig 180 FMJ for $32 per box of 50 shipped. That's 1250 fps goodness.
Even my std S&B is rated over 1100 ( 1150 iirc).

When we go off road (jeepin, hiking, dirt biking, adventure riding, fishing etc), it's UNDERWOOD EXTREME of some sort.

I don't have an issue with 10mm itself. I've had 6 of them. I just wouldn't buy another Kimber 10mm. They are all gone now and have no desire to replace them.

I'm definitely more interested in DAN WESSON than anything else.

I would love to own a KODIAK to compliment my VBOB, VALOR and SPECIALIST. ALL in the best millimeter, 10mm. Since the budget doesnt support that purchase right now, I'm considering adding a 6" or 7" barrel to the SPECIALIST.

Sorry OP for the hijack.
