Meh.........
I love the show Longmire but occasionally pick up on inaccuracies. One episode they spoke about a 38 Special revolver not being registered. Funny seeing how there is no requirement for weapons registration in Wyoming.

So, is this simply an oversight by the writers and producers or a subliminal message?

I've been watching West World lately.

A gal cocked a single action revolver 3 times before shooting it. o_O

Like when the guy racks the slide on his shotgun when he gets out of the car, again when he gets to the front door and again before he goes in each room. Or where the hammer on a 1911 is down, then back, then down again. Or glocks get dry fired on empty chamber multiple times. I really like when the good guy hides behind the sofa as the bad guy shoots into the sofa on full auto and sparks fly off of this apparently bulletproof sofa that much also be made of flint.

The can do so much research on other things, but gun laws that seem to come up short.
Maybe it's their point of view or hopes of what they want to happen.

I think it's mostly the fact that they don't want to hire someone who actually knows a lot about firearms as a consultant. They'd rather pay high-priced actors and let them do stupid things out of ignorance. The average viewer (no, most viewers) have no clue and the producers know it.

The wife gets cranky when I yell at the TV about dumb gun handling ("keep your booger picker AWAY from the loud button until you want to make noise!") or how the folks on Walking Dead are leaving guns alllll over the place.

Not from TV or a movie but from one of the Jack Reacher books; Jack picked up a spent cartridge... held it n his hand and could tell by the weight that it was a military 5.56 case and not a civilian .223... LOOK AT THE HEADSTAMP JACK!!!!!

In one of the Sherlock Holmes movies with Robert Downy the bad guy assassin has a brass cartridge case that he takes apart to put a poison dart in. The headstamp on the case says 223 Remington. The time this movie supposedly is in would be the very late 1800's.
