Ok, so they have been out for a bit and I decided to pickup a Geissele Super Duty. I have a bunch of Geissele triggers in different rifles, I like them. In one rifle I gave a Geissele charging handle, not my favorite. I will, most likely replace it with a BCM handle. Their scope mount is a damn fine piece as well.

Ok, how about this rifle. I was initially drawn to it d to the DDC or as Geissele calls it, desert dirt color. I was pleased with the balance of the rifle. It has a medium weight constant taper profile barrel. It is a 16" barrel, and gas an intermediate length gas system, not really rifle, but not mid length. My original plan was to use an AimPoint T2 and a AimPoint 3x magnifier. I decided to put a Nightforce 1-8, using a Geissele mount I have. Still on the fence with this glass as it adds weight.

The rifle has the 15" M16 rail, it's the MLok pattern and has built in sling QD receptacles. The trigger is just weird. It's essentially an SSA-E that has a semi curved shoe. It's not flat, nor does it have the standard shape. The shoe is also wider than most. Other than that, it's all SSA-E.

At the bench I instantly noticed it was a smooth/soft shooter. I was using some ASYM ammo I was gifted some time ago by a Smiff in AZ. One of Geissele's enhancements is the Super 42 tri-braid buffer spring and H2 buffer. My thoughts are more toward the gas system length and the port size. It really feels similar to the Knights Mod 2. I did place a Harris bipod on for pics, but I shot off a bag, as I usually do, unless prone in the dirt. The Airborne charging handle isn't my favorite. The oversized bolt catch, or as Geissele calls it, Maritime Bolt Catch is awesome. The gas block in installed in a bullet proof manner. Two setscrews and a pin. One neat feature I noticed is paint marks. Both set screws and the pin had a white paint dot. This is often done in the aircraft industry as fasteners are torqued. A neat small thing that shows attention to detail. The Geissele installed muzzle device, a SureFire three prong was installed with shims and Rocksett,

The only changes are the grip and the stock, as pictured are B5 pieces. I did remove the three prong muzzle device for a closed time WarComp. I tried USGI mags, MagPul as well as a twenty round Lancer. All ran fine, locked back on empty and dropped freely.

Accuracy was great. The ASYM ammo, damn good ammo, match grade shot right around an inch groups. Completely satisfied with that, couldn't ask for better.

The colt, carrier and barrel are what Geissele calls, nano-coated, think PVD. The clean up super easily. The carrier does have an enhanced pivot pin channel. It delays the bolt's opening, lowering chamber pressure, smoothing action.

Outstanding write-up and rifle. Everything about it just looks so well put together. I think that bolt catch looks like a great feature, too.

Awesome review! Thanks for your detailed thoughts. This just reaffirms my own purchase. Once I get it set up, I will post a picture or two. I went with their Luna Black, because that is the one our shooting center had.

A few more thoughts.....the bcg is what Geissele calls REBCG, reliability enhanced bolt carrier group. It does have a few features that differ it from the standard full auto bcg.

The cam pin channel is changed in shape, like the LMT & Surefire carriers. The bolt is mp and hpt marked. However, it doesn't have stress relief cuts like the LMT bolt foes. The firing pin seems standard, the retaining pin's ends are beveled, always a nice touch. The extractor is of some super high grade steel alloy, can't remember what. The carrier is what Geissele calls nano coated, pvd, or a similar process.
If you paid attention, you will notice the cam pin is also of the super strength alloy and has a nonstandard head shape. Don't know what that's about, will need to research.

Nice looking rifle & description..
Guess triggers are like women, you get to choose what you like, a Blonde, Brunette, or RedHead.
As far as Geissele triggers.. I have a SSA-E on one of my AR's.. not my favorite, by far.
Not any kind of AR or Trigger expert, but discovered I prefer (and shoot better with) single stage triggers.
Have a few Ar's w/ different triggers : a CMC Single Stage (3.5#) I prefer over the Geissele, and ALG /ACT trigger on another AR,
but my favorite AR trigger is a mil spec trigger than was re-worked by my local gunsmith.
He charged me $ 80. to do the work, and I like it better than all the others.

I had a Bushmaster trigger stoned by Bill Springfield some years ago
It was great for a few thousand rounds, then it went full auto. They are surface hardened, and not very deep. That trigger will go auto at some point.

Have you ever tried one of the Timney cartridge triggers?

Nice rig Mr. Bender. Love their DDC. Like you I like Gs products and have many. Many triggers, scope mounts, small parts and on and on so last years Black Friday sale I scooped up a Super Duty receiver set and a LPK and a few other things. As always, very happy with what my money got me.

Shoot on my friend.

I haven't tried that one. I do own an AR Gold trigger, single stage, cassette style trigger. It is has s sweet reset and a glass rod break at about 3.5#

Many of these drop in triggers are wonderful

" Many of these drop in triggers are wonderful,",,.....agreed.

all are quite an improvement over the triggers that come on most rifles, in my experience.

Full auto for approximately $80? Now that's a steal!!:)

Well and a few thousand rounds of ammo to get there.

I have the CMC drop-in in my AR with a 2.5 lb. pull. I love it, but it's as light as I would have in an AR. It really made a difference in my groups at 100 yds. It breaks like a TINY glass rod.
