The fairly new division for smallish pistols people really do carry is a ton of fun. The dimensional limits are basically, the size of a Glock 19/23. In that I'm rather partial to 1911's, it seemed to me that there must be a better idea, and here is mine. The magwell started as a stock Smith and Alexander officer's frame magwell. After milling half the base of the casting, I get a functional magwell and fit the "box" dimensions.

Yes, 4 inch barrel, officer's frame (alloy). My modifications: flat wire recoil spring assembly, Aftec extractor, gold bead front sight, STI light weight trigger, lot's of stoning on trigger components, magwell and Talon Grip tape. The gun holds impressive groups and with mods, feeds my loads without fail. It is effected by occasional operator error, however.

Love the grips, have some like it with mag scoop on my 1911 9mm. Sweet looking carry gun there!
