2013 USPSA Area 4 Championship @ Old Fort Gun Club September 4-8th

who will be running this match? I am thinking of volenteering again. been doing A4 the past 4 yrs. hate to break the streak.

I dont think a match director has been named yet. I assume that Troy will be either the MD or the RM.
The other obvious candidate is David Hyden (match director at Nat'ls for several years)
The OFGC crew has put on the AR Section Multigun for many years, even before 3-gun was "a big deal"
I believe they are highly thought of in the world of big matches. Many of our regulars are mainstays of the Nationals RO/CRO/Stats/quartermaster lineup. I had lunch yesterday with The President of the United States (Practical Shooting Assn) and he seems to think A4 at OFGC is a great plan.
This will be an excellent match.

Yep, top notch facility/crew and they never disappoint.

To put it another way, there aren't very many pistol matches I will drive 3 hours to shoot. I'm stoked.

Not to mention how many dedicated shooters we have from this area that have R.O.'d a national match.

I'm glad Troy's diligence has paid off and we are going to have it at a club that works so hard to challenge the shooter.

Now that it is official --

Bruce Bethell, Director of Practical Pistol for Old Fort Gun Club in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Our team here is pleased and excited that we have been selected to host the 2013 Area 4 Championship Handgun match.

Old Fort Gun Club is a multi-disclipline organization, with well over 800 family memberships. The Board of Directors is unanimous in their support for this match. The directive from the Board to the Practical Pistol Team is simply, "Make 'Ur Happen."

Many of you have joined us for the annual Arkansas Section Multi Gun Championship match at OFGC, and everyone seems well pleased with the way in which we handle large matches. Our Team is dedicated to making the 2013 Area 4 match an event to remember.

We are especially looking forward to working with Troy in the planning and execution of this match. His dedication to perfection, and our desire to create a match that will appeal to shooters from Unclassified to GM's, can only result in one of the finest shooting experiences you will have during 2013.

Support from Boomer Shooter will also play a big part in making this event rather spectacular. Official notice has only been out for a short period of time, and already you guys are in line to sponsor the event. Awesome! Somehow, I knew we could count on our Okie Friends!

Mark your calendar, and get this match on the schedule. Please note that unless Troy makes some correction, the match is scheduled for September 4 through 8, 2013. This is NOT Labor Day weekend. My calendar says Labor Day is Monday, September 2.

Best wishes for the New Year to all.

Bruce Bethell

Damn! I just now realized that this is the same weekend as the 3 Gun Nation Pro match in Utah. ANy way a guy can shoot with the RO's?

This will hopefully be my 1st Area match. Is it 1st come 1st serve on registration? Area 4 folks get dibs then the anyone else that wants in gets a slot?

From Troy:

The official match page is http://www.area4championship.com, and match entry forms and a link to an online staff application can be found there. The match will be limited to 265 entrants, entry fee is $150. We will shoot the main match in a half day format, over 2 1/2 days (Friday, Saturday, 1/2 day Sunday), with awards and prizes to follow the final posting of scores on the range. Staff will shoot for free, on Thursday, the 5th. Wednesday the 4th is reserved as a contingency day. A limited number of competitors (vendors and sponsors) will be able to shoot the match with the staff. Staff benefits will include match shirt, meals on the range, and a thank you gift. I'm working on housing at this time, but it may not be in the budget.
The Range Master will be Nancy Huspek, stats chief Joy Hyden.
Thanks to Lee Neel for setting up the match web page, and to OFGC for getting involved in this match in a big way. I'm looking forward to working with them to produce a superb match.

As always, we are looking for sponsors, especially from within the Area, so if you or someone you know is interested, please get in touch. Sponsor letters have been distributed with another mailing coming soon.

BoomerShooter has committed to being a STAGE SPONSOR and we will have 2 entries to this match to give away!!!!

NO

Apply now as whatever - they will run a classifier update usually the week of the match. So if you are D now and GM by the match - you will shoot the match GM since thats what the system will download
