Why is everything on back order?

I've been shopping around for AR's and it seems like everywhere I look most of their guns and even most parts are on back order, usually for months. What's with the shortage of AR's?

everyone is buying them. Gun sales have gone though the roof.

trying to find federal small pistol primers is about as hard. I picked up the last thousand at my local gun shop.luckily i have plenty but that's only if the shortage only last a year like it did last time.

That's why I only use airsoft. They're never out of stock.
