Hey guys. So I am trying to figure out what gun belt to purchase and wanted some suggestions. I currently wear a 44-46" waist in pants and want a belt that I could use for CCW IWB or OWB, as well as at competitions that could support my full size M&P 9 and mags. I like adjustability as well, as I am trying to lose some weight. When I was most fit, I was 210-215 lbs with 15% body fat, but still a 36" waist. I hope to get down to a 36 or 38 within a year through good eating and exercise.

I like the Wilderness Frequent Flyer for an all-around, multiuse belt. Make sure to get the 5 stitch model.

Wilderness instructor belt for everyday use, cr speed belt for match shooting

For the wilderness belts, would the easy fit be the best bet, or will that get in the way with carrying IWB?

Is the 5 stitch model the one to go with, or the one with the polymer insert?

I'm not sure what the easy fit is. I've been carrying with a frequent flyer 5 stitch (no insert) for several years. You don't get more than a couple of inches of adjustment though, so if you do lose some weight you'll need to get another.

This is the easy fit. I am thinking the 44-49 is the way to go. I don't have my CCW yet and I won't be applying for it until 2013. Until then, I am using a blade tech holster that is OWB. With my hopefully decreased circumference by summer next year, I may have to get a new one, but it could probably last me for quite some time.

Where are you located? I have a couple of Instructor belts in that size I don't use anymore because I've lost 50 lbs.

If you're not into the "5.11 tactical cargo pants and rigger's belt" look, Beltman makes great leather gun belts. I use mine for USPSA and it's plenty stiff. It also still looks good after taking quite a beating while I've owned it. If you lose weight, they'll cut it down for $15.

I've owned a couple Looper's gun belts as well, and still wear one of them. The price is right and they're plenty stiff but the dye in the black one just didn't hold up.

I have a black tapered belt from Comp-Tac that I got on clearance. I have it to wear with suits, which isn't very often, but it works well for that.

A slightly used wilderness belt is easy to sell in the classifieds. Buy the right size then sell it when you shrink.

The Wilderness belt is very good, but you have to order it two-sizes over your current size. It's explained on their site. It's also stupid.

I'll second the recommendation for Beltman gun belts. I've had one for years and love it. Used it for USPSA a while back, and carry a 45 auto IWB on it from time to time.

I work in a business dress environment and use it as a regular belt almost every day. Got it on right now.
