being a foodie in a place like CT is hard. most places here SUCK. even the italian food and pizza is barely edible

found out these 2 places ship wonderful foods. tried the chicago( ginos east) pizza first. they arrive tomorrow. compare d prices to what I would pay here( pizzas --2 mediums delivered 50-60 bucks) and they compare favorably. Not all items are priced reasonably so we started with the pizza as it was. just wanted to share with my fellow food deprived 1911 fanatics( disclaimer:I do not own or represent these places ;) )

1st the pizza, then some ribs or italian beef........moderation is the key( yeah right.

let me know if you tried them and what the results were. I will post after we eat some Ginos east 'za

I was going to order some Lobster rolls....but holy smokes! $45 shipping. I get it's not cheap...but I could get a round trip ticket for those prices :)

I did see some other local shops offering free shipping etc. Nice find!

you have to be a good shopper @Blackbeard. heck a pie is 45 -60 buck plus shipping.

the pizzas, the italian beef and other goodies seem reasonable

boatdoc---no boo hooing!!!! You have fresh tasty fish from that big pond called the Atlantic you can go get!! :)

For something different and I grew up eating out own beef for the most part this is expensive but is the best out of all of the people selling it produced in the US that I have tried. It is produced in Missouri on a family ranch. For those that are into this to be called Wagyu in the US it must only be 50% bloodline. They have 87% or 100% pure bred stock. If you are good at grilling and do not eat your meat more than medium (I am a medium rare guy) then you should try this. Been buying from them for about 5 years now in fact expecting a shipment the end of this week. This stuff will literally melt in your mouth and has a flavor that is just exquisite.

Every restaurant I have ever been to around DFW gets their Wagyu from Snake River up north or Heart here in Texas. It is just 50% and is not even close to this stuff and they price it and the waiters have no idea about bloodline information lol. Anyway go and rad about what this stuff is read about why it is different. LOL tough to beat Wagyu burgers!

If you think I am picky about my firearms then beef is another level above that!:):)

not boo hooing Dave

just making note that some of this stuff is expensive
I cannot eat seafood any more due to gi issues and I miss lobster ,clams, scallops... shrimp a lot. I miss canned tuna and salmon too :(

I eat locally grown ,farm raised beef ( almost zero fat and the meat is purple --unblike supermarket pink to gray food) some locally raise d pork as a treat, some cheese( hard cheese is low fat). it sucks getting older and having your diet restricted due to health

wagyu is the king of the hill as far as taste( from the fat of course) and tenderness( from pampered cows). that stuff will clog an artery just looking at it :)!

Well CRAP!! Did not know you could not eat good stuff anymore! PLEASE ACCEPT my deepest apologies! If you told me no more of the ocean products you have listed I just do not know what I would do! The canned Salmon I could do without but not the fresh stuff when they are running and we get it down here (King is my favorite)!

I guess you don't want to hear that it's a 15 minute drive from my house to a Lou Malnati's restaurant or 20 minutes to Gino's East. No I don't live in Chicago, I retired on 12/31/1999 and on that day vowed I'd never return to that cesspool and to this day I have been true to my word.

Chicago Deep Dish Pizza isn't that hard to make at home I do it all the time. If you have a cast iron frying pan and can assemble some store bought ingredients it's easy. If there's an interest I can post up some directions,

you are lucky in some ways and in others not( you get the best food, festivals, good sports, great live music.. and the worst weather). I am not jealous but sure miss eating the goods. Greek, chinese, thai, italian beef combos with fries, deep dish pizza from ginos east or unos...LEONAS(now a chain but in the 80's it was a 2 store bonanza, Lettuce entertain you restaurants(lawrence of Oregano was great).... the list is endless.

MY MRS makes a nice deep dish( stuffed even) but refuses to do so. so we ordered Ginos east--comes in today :)
