High Plains Shotgun Challenge 2012

Trapr can we get any hints on what we need to be practicing? Like two years ago we had to shoot those 4-5" tall slug targets at 5-25 yards? Sounds like we have a lot if first tuners shooting the match and that sorta thing ain't something I plan for much less the newbies.

max range for slugs will be <75yds. smallest slug target is 8.5x11.

practice???? whats that!!!! ...........
pattern your SG, with buck and bird
load and shoot from every position you can imagine!!

I do not want to get specific, and allow those that have the resources to practice specifics, get an advantage over those that cannot.

Oh crap.... of to imaginary practice, I'm just barley getting the shells in the gun and now I have to do it hanging like a monkey. Hey JT I may need to borrow that gear/gun before the match lol. Speaking of which anyone got a good A frame I can hang from...

Ok guys I went and played with one of the stages today and have decided to allow competitors to decide what type of shot they want to use on this particular stage....birdshot or buckshot.
So the buckshot count just went down by 5 rounds (min.) if you choose to use birdshot.

It is easily doable with either, but there are benefits to both, more pellets to work with, and cheaper to shoot with birdshot, and targets fall with fewer pellet strikes with buck. either way you will get to decide what you want to use, so long as its some kind of shot, and not a slug.

Also know what your buckshot will do on paper out to 40-50ish yards, you only need 2 hits to score. I ran a bunch of stuff I had from foreign stuff, to Win low recoil, and Remington low recoil. i did not run Federal flitecontrol because I know what that does already, but 2 hits was not hard to get for any of the other stuff.

OK, it seems we have another scheduling conflict like last year. So a stage or two will be redrawn for placement elsewhere on the range, more than likely it will mean a jungle run type stage or two taking place on the north end by the long range bay. Round counts will not be changed significantly so keep buying the stuff you need.

also, Tactical Machining, XRail, Carbon Arms, and Scopecoat have all sent you guys and girls stuff for the prize table so PLEASE remember to thank them when you see them or put a post on a social networking page (Facebook), and let them know you appreciate them supporting HPSC.

OOoooooOoo... prize tables didn't realize they were going to be present how will they work for this match? Place or what?

Also, registration/sign up will take place on the range friday 6/22 from noon till the RO's are done shooting, normally 6pmish, and again on Saturday 6/23 morning prior to shooting at 730am till 900am.

Competitors will be shooting both days 6/23-6/24.

We are at 90% full, so if you've waited this long you better stop procrastinating.

There are several nearly new hotels at I35 & 2nd street in Edmond which is 10-15 minutes drive from the range. If you want cheaper/older go farther west into Edmond down 2nd street. 2nd street has lots of shopping and eats 4-5 miles west of I35 as well.

There is a Walmart at I35 & 15th street of anyone needs ammo or stuff. 15th street is the next exit south of 2nd street.

Here is the address that google maps gave me. If you do a street view you can see the old gate. Our cowboys just built a nice new gate with stone pillars so you can't miss the entrance anymore.

Anyone mailing an entry in the last couple of days!!!!

I have not received any new entries, except people that I personally spoke with and had them emailed to me,

So if you waited this long to send in an entry, and you still want to shoot the match then the only thing left to do is show up at the match and register and pay then. We have approx. 20 slots left, and half of those will be going to sponsors and people who have already made arrangements to pay and register at the match. I'm sorry but there is no way I can assume that you sent payment and allow you to shoot the match without paying at registration.

I will not be at the mailing address on the application after tonight, if you have questions please call. 512-496-5386, If your check has cleared your bank then you are in the match, I have one check left to deposit, and it belongs to J. Westerman.

Trapr. I mailed my entry 3 weeks ago and the check has not cleared. Can you please let me know if you received it. If you did not, please add me to the list and I will bring cash to the match.

Anybody that's planning on partying at my place Saturday after the match please shoot me a PM. Tara is going to make some sandwiches so I need a head count.
