There are at least 3 of us on this forum stuck here in California!
It's unbelievable the crap we have to put up with. In truth, it has nothing to do with liberals, and everything to do with racism and hysterically emotional voters. Believe it or not, California's first gun control laws were written to prevent the Chinese immigrants from owning guns, because it scared the white majority. Then we had additional laws because once the Black Panthers marched (carrying) through the streets of Sacramento, and the politicians got terrified that black people were allowed to carry guns.
Racism definitely got the ball rolling, then we had a bunch of emotional, knee-jerk measures that passed. Someone would get killed, and of course some douchenozzle politician would smell an opportunity to ensure re-election by writing some useless, stupid, dangerous, "think of the children"-type bill that put inane restrictions on guns here in CA, as if criminals were suddenly going to start caring what the law said.
Now those days are...still here, sadly, but it's more about the haves against the have-nots. For example, you might think Feinstein (our liberal Senator) is very much against guns. It's true she votes for anything that prevents normal people from owning guns, but that's where most people make their mistake -- she's not against guns --
she's is against YOU having a gun. I can say this with some certainty because Feinstein herself owns a gun (and of course has an impossibly-difficult-to-obtain-for-a-normal-person concealed carry license). A person against guns wouldn't own a gun, much less have a concealed carry permit. She also has bodyguards with guns (and concealed permits, of course).
Here's another example: Sean Penn, the famous actor. Very left-wing, very liberal. Also has multiple convictions on his record for drug and alcohol abuse, as well as violence. The convictions alone would make it completely impossible for someone like me to get a concealed carry permit, but Sean Penn, serious liberal, has a concealed carry permit, and owns guns. Again, not a liberal thing. Liberals in this state love their guns, as long as the "little people" don't have them.
Organizations like the great CalGuns are working hard and making progress, but as a wise man said, it takes time to undo decades of bad law...
So anyways, next time you drive to school with your fully-automatic MP-5 (with drum mag full of AP / incendiary rounds) slung across your back, think about your less-fortunate brothers and sisters here in CA, and send some good karma / project some positive vibrations to "normal" people of any political leaning who are denied their rights by a mountain of corrupt legislators and awful laws.
