The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is taking a rare step of allowing public comments prior to issuing a decision on a study that could result in outlawing certain types of shotguns currently available to citizens.

This supposedly will only apply to imported shotguns. Meaning the ones everyone wants to buy. Buy your Benelli shotguns while you can!

That is what I was thinking. Isn't this the same deal that started the hubub about the Saiga and USPSA action shooting not being considered widespread enough for "sporting purpose" definition?

The comment period for that passed a long time ago. From what I remember the BATFE refused to accept practical shooting as a sport. It referred to it as Police type training or some such nonsense.
