What's a good pistol for IDPA?

I've been shooting a Glock 19 (with tru glo sights) in SSP... in fact, it's a true "carry gun". If i was going to "game" it a little..I'd go to a full sized M and P or a Glock 17... just for the sight radius.

That stipple job on your 27 puts you in ESP... your probably going to shoot against a lot of longer guns- like 9mm 1911's and stuff like that.

Sight radius seems to help in some IDPA stages... you get some longer shots... tighter shots (steel that activates movers, etc)

I don't think the base pad would knock it out either. As long as it is not weighted and everything fits in the box. It is the permanent modification of the stipling that kicks it out. Somebody else may see it differently.

Nothing. As long as it doesn't have any of the non-permitted modifications, you can shoot it SSP.
what mods are not allowed in any IDPA class? I have a g35 with comp sights, mag well, comp guide rod and spring and fulcrum trigger.what can I do to shoot this gun in IDPA ?

LOL put the stock parts back on it... JK... it might go in ESP...

Remember- this game is built around "carry guns"... and carry gear. A good rule of thumb is "would I carry this for EDC, conclealed?"

Not really, unless you EDC a 5" 1911 under a gigantic fishing vest.

What's your point? I do carry a full sized 1911 ... under a square- tailed shirt or in a tuckable holster under a shirt....
The Glock 19 is not much smaller.

The attact the heart of your point... IDPA needs to adress the small revolver and mini-380/9mm guns that have taken a lions share of the market. Most club matches are hit and miss--- and only shoot Bug guns as side matches if at all.

Don't want to jack the thread, but I'll just throw this out here. I think you make a good point. You would not believe the amount of .380 brass I saw the other day that came from an indoor range. A whole bunch of people are shooting the itty bitty guns these days. And shooting them alot apparently.

Lots of genuine 3rd hand rumors around concerning the current IDPA rules rewrite.
Latest is that the classifer is getting major revisions. Stay tuned.

I shoot the M&P pro 40. It has been a great shooter with zero FTF or feed. The gun has never seen anything but cast lead bullets again zero issues. If you reload I would stick to the M&P or XDM however XDM right now puts you in ESP. However, I hear there is talk of changing that and making it SSP as well. I would go with the top of the line comp model if you want to play the game. This will give you longer sight radius sometimes different triggers and better sights. There is no penalty for having the best gun in the class.
