From I -44 (Which is also hwy. 287) take the US 82-277 West (Abilene-Lubbuck) Exit. Coming from the south make a left turn under the under pass at the third light on to 82. Stay in the left lane and get on the highway. Travel straight 9.4 miles till you come to the Shell convenience store at the "Y" of US 82 and FM 258. Take the right on to FM 258 and travel 3.5 miles to FM 368. At the intersection make a left and travel 1.25 miles to the RED outer range gate on the right, You will see a yellow outlined IPSC sign. Go thorough the gate on to the dirt range road. Follow the road straight for about a mile to the range parking lot, the road dead ends into the range.

Found this on Enos:

Hello, first time so be gentle. Is there going to be any sling requirments? I always bring about 20 slugs and some" heavy" bird shot for longer steel. any thing special I should stuff in my truck ? Also any chance I could siight in , riflles been in a u haul from Vegas. if not I belive in accuracy by voulume. Thanks Larry

shouldn't need a sling, i wouldn't worry about anything "special", good luck sighting in, doubt you will be able to, but that is the match directors call.. but i wouldn't plan on it..

Robert let me use his 200 yard berm to test fire and check zero prior to the match. That may change if there is a stage setup out there.

As of now it looks like I have Jake, Chambers, and Heath rolling with me. After getting rained out last weekend I'm ready to do this!

From Robert Porter...

Hey Folks

It's the Fifth Saturday of the Month, You know what that means…….3 GUN Time at the Double Tap Ranch.

We got the The 380 yard Berm up and have the Targets stationed and will be shooting at 100+ Yards, 200+ Yards and 300+ Yards from our NEW  Roof Top prop.
Jack Dumas ( Local Guy, Big into 3 Gun) has a couple of Surprises for stages one is a two gun combo the Other will be use ALL your guns on the Stage!  So looks like we will use at least two gun on three of the five stages ( could be Six stages if i have time)

We have bought new rifle steel to shoot, a couple of 12" plates, some reduced size steel IPSC targets and a bunch of 8" round plates,  Whew! rifle steel is not cheap.
Round count will be a Bit higher than past 3 guns so bring about 100 Rnds pistol, 100+ Rnds rifle and about 50-70 Rnds shotgun bird shot and 5 slugs. A low $30.00 entry fee with all the fun starting  at 10:00am.

We are really amping it up for this match so make sure you attend!

See you This Saturday at DTR

Robert Porter
Match Director

If any seats open up on the way to DTR let me know or if anyone wants to carpool let me know I am excited about 3-gun this weekend

At the Double Tap Ranch, Stages are set, Weather is going to be good and the Stages are the best yet Thanks to the help of Jack Dumas and Steve Menzik for designing 3 of the SIX STAGES! thats right, we had time to put in another stage. Rnd Count ended up at 68 pistol, 49 rifle, and 49 Shotgun bird shot and 4 slugs
all the fun start at 10:00am

Robert, isn't $30 kinda steep for a local match?
Our montly OKC 3gun matches are $15

Next month okcgc is $20. 3 Mils right is $40. Three gun requires three times the targets and AR500 is expensive. If you can't afford $30 for a match in which you plan to shoot your $6000 worth if guns at your in the wrong game. Go play golf.

have no doubt, I'm playing tomorrow.

I wouldn't question $20 for a bay style 3gun match & 3MR is a very spread out natural terrain match so I can see the extra cost there.
I think you of all people, being as new shooter oriented as you are, can understand that the more cost prohibitive it is, the less people are going to want to join the fun.

I totally agree with Wall.
Having run a club from the ground up i understand the costs. That stated there is a difference between running a range and running a club. Having to purchase either targets/ stands etc or fab them ourselves and then rent the range time I always thought it was better to have numbers vs a high match fee. Reason - trying to grow the club, I feel that if a couple move or get tied down with bills etc it wouldn't hurt attendance, word of mouth is the way to get less jackasses and more shooters, it is easier and better to promote the sports by allowing more folks to play the game and spend money supporting the industry etc.

Bottom line is the owner of the range will charge what they want regardless of what I or anyone else thinks.

BTW a beat up up old Glock, a Nova, and a frankin AR is way less than even 2000, with cheap gear maybe 2G. I truly hope the site doesn't pick up an elitist attitude.

Jesse, have you gone and played golf at a halfway decent course? Especially if you are not a member? My wife can easily bring back 100-200+ course fee stories. Of course she only gets to do that once or twice a yr, but damn, it's not even a tournament!

If you figure that the setup is more intensive than a pistol match, and the match draws typically less shooters, I think $30 isnt too expensive.

I wouldn't have said that if it wasn't Tony making the comment. I know exactly what his kit is worth.

I have paid 10-15x DTR's match fee for golf too. It's like anything if you want to play at the nice places you gotta be willing to eat ramen noodles all week to do it.

The Score for the 3 Gun Will be on the Double Tap Ranch Web Sight on Monday Morning. If you are on my e-mail list you would already have them if you want them e-mailed to you send me a e-mail at [email protected] and we will get them to you before Monday. All you Guys that made out today Thanks you!

Damn and here I thought my wife was just lazy. Now i have to thank her for being fiscally responsible ;( oh lol ;)

Btw thanks for the explanation and I would rather listen to synchronized swimming on the radio then play golf - just me and just saying lol.
