A while back I replaced the rear sight on my XDm-40 and now need some help getting it lined up/sighted in correctly. I hadn't put much practice time in it, but after a visit to Heartland this week, I realize it is just way off. If I aim by feel, I'm on target but if I line it up all proper like, it is way off....way.

I don't have the tools, nor the patience, to adjust it right. Suggestions?

On a side note, the same trip allowed me some time with a new XDs-45. My hand hurt (it's a good hurt) after 75 rounds, but it's really nice and quite accurate for a small .45.
I highly recommend you try one out if you get a chance.

A solid vise and a punch is better than any site pusher ever made. Move the rear the way you want the group to go. If its elevation measure your front sight, use the formula on Dawson's website and order a new one.

If you want to shoot a boatload of handgun its time you learned to install and adjust sites.

This thing is the tightest dovetail I've ever seen. Getting the stock sight out I really thought I would break the gun before it moved. Ended up borrowing a pusher that barely got the job done.

I don't have a handgun vise, so I'd rather just have it done right than getting more hardware that my wife will frown upon.

Will give you a call Argyle.

Yeah, the sight pusher tool for the XD even has a disclaimer on it telling you not to use the tool for removal of factory sights. They're a bear to remove. The XD sights are the most difficult out there in my opinion.

I got angry at the range, took the slide off and drifted the rear with a soft punch. My XDm .40 consistently shot 6"-8" inches left at 9 o'clock. Forum advice consistently said its me and my trigger squeeze. I'm not going to say it isn't, yet now I'm shooting where I aim. After I get a trigger job, I may have to drift it back. The awful take up may be the blame, I don't know. Either way, the rear is way right on my slide. If I'm good after the trigger work, I'll adjust front, and readjust the rear so it doesn't look so odd.

BTW, I did not damage the slide or rear sight, but, I would be concerned to try drifting the front in the same manner.
