woodcock courtship display - observe now in OK

the woodcock are migrating thru OK now. the males are doing their their courtship display. this is a very unusual and interesting display. places to find them are brushy, wet meadows. they will begin at dusk . this week has been about 6:30 pm.

Interesting. I've seen a few over the years, but didn't know they mated here.
