Not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes. I have a Winchester Model 74 that I received this summer from my grandmother. This gun belonged to my grandfather and was actually the gun that I learned to shoot on. Unfortunately, it has seen better days and had spent its fair share of time behind the seat of the truck. I understand that I will probably spend a good quantity more than what the gun is worth to refinish it but it is more a factor of sentimental value. My question is: Where is the best place to have the barrel refinished, as well as the stock? I would prefer for it to be somebody in the state just cause I like to support local businesses but I would also like to minimize the cost.

Additionally, I am having a little difficulty removing the action. The button on the recessed side does not want to budge. Is this more than likely due to corrosion or could there be something else limiting its movement.

Honybee (Franson Firearms) is a sponsor here & is a master of restoring old rifles. Shoot him a PM & I'll bet he can take care of it for you.

If you have sticking parts don't force them. Get me the gun as it is and I will evaluate it and give you some options and prices before I do anything that will cost you.
If you break or bend something it will just cost you more.
