i kinda halfway been thinking about getting one, and I saw one on there before holidays, while mama was smacking every cash register in town with her credit card. so no go then....

thinking I might sneak up on some spare cash and pick it up now, but now I cant find it.
the only one local are used & been taken apart to swap out pieces/parts.

i think it was "bcsonline.com" or something, and it had some wacked out bidding thing on their website, looked kinda creepy & odd. that made me not want to deal with them, but if they have one NIB, might be worth riding over there with someone to see how shady they are. said they had their FFL and stuff, on their website, and we all know you can't lie on the innerweb.....

not a ruger but an army navy store up here in Spartanburg had an AR for $1400. didnt look to see the brand. bet they had more in back. want people to think thats the last one.

the ruger was gone. was on consignment, somebody cashing in on the feeding frenzy.

they sold it for about $200 more than i wanted to pay, so no biggie.

alot of times, it's more fun to shop & wait on a bargain, than to buy.

the guy in Greer found the Model # on his, but had NO IDEA what it meant. he had a 556E, which means Essential (or Economy)

go here:
http://www.ruger.com/products/sr556/index.html
click on "find the perfect SR-556 for you"
and it brings up a PDF.
http://ruger-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/comp ... -SR556.pdf

the Economy model does not have a chrome barrel or the chrome BCG or the Hogue Grips or rail covers, and only came with one Pmag,
thats the best question to ask, "how many Pmags did it COME WITH?" and if they say one....you know it is the base model gun.
some good pics will even show the BCG is black instead of chrome.

this is a sample sell of the standard (most expensive) gun I have seen:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =325648373
Buy Now! Price was $2,800.00

that PDF lists MSRP, and maybe a few sold at MSRP ($1995 to $1375)when they initially came on the scene, but not all of them.
but most of my research shows, before the recent scare, the standard (high end) gun going for around $1599, and the economy going for around $1100 on line.
so most folks are trying to sell the cheap guns at high end prices.

IDK...I think i will give up on this endeavor, and forget about it.
