The thread on bowfishing has put an itch in me. I'd like to bag a Paddlefish and stock the freezer.

I have not been fishing below Kaw Dam in about 10 years. I recall seeing paddlefish there. They would occassionaly surface and splash. Besides this place, where are some other areas that one could shoot a paddlefish?

I also remebering seeing many gar below Kaw Dam.

Cheers

I have done it below Ft Gibson lake. Lots of fun, just be sure you take a hard hat or a football helmet or somthing. Lots of BIG lead flying around..no elephant dung.

I think I have partly answered my own question. No bowfishing of any kind below Kaw dam :(

Gigs, spears and spearguns prohibited, except Hudson which is open. Snagging prohibited, except Ft. Gibson tailwaters are open 24 hours; Wister is open to snagging from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., year-round. Prohibited method of fishing: bowfishing (see Tailwaters above), trotline, throwline, limbline, jugline and yo-yo.

I'm suprised they took the oppourtinity to bow fish a spoonbill below Kaw Dam. I never have, but I'm thinking bow fishing would result in a tiny amount of spoonbill being taken. I don't know. I'll ask the local GW when I see him this week.
I've read the reg you posted a couple of times, and now I wonder if its only restricted to the first 1000 feet below the dam. Snagging is also illegal within 1000'
