Stage 9 at the Arkansas Section was my squad's last (this was my 3rd 3G match) and I wanted to get it done as long range rifle (past 100 yards) is very new to me but I knew my rifle will get it done. Hit the 200 yard steel off the table ok, hit the first 300 after 5-6 rounds. Then burned a good 25 rounds on the last 3......had to move on. Stood up to address the close paper and went to move my optic from 4x back to 1x........it was on 1x the whole time. I was so worried about hitting those 300 yard targets I started the stage on 1x and didn't catch it. Good rookie move.

Stay safe.

That happens to me still. Its usually I start on 6X for the long stuff and forget to move it to 1X for the close stuff.

Or ripping your cheap plastic cattail off changing power. But my biggest 3 gun lesson from my first season, is to never go to war on a long range plate. 3 or 4 rounds, and I'm moving on.

This is good advise. I've ro'd several long range stages and it never ceases to amaze me how many people go from aiming to spray and pray in zero flat after a long range miss.
