Upping trigger pull weight, good idea, bad idea, or who cares?

Good read guys. I'm fixing to jump off into the light trigger pond with the 2011 Mike built me. I have only shot a hand full of matches with my Accurate Iron SS and I'm sure you all remember how the last one ended. Light triggers can mask a bad pull but they can also create much worse things. I plan to keep all of my competition pistol triggers and AR triggers for that matter around 3 lbs. I want one that is clean, crisp, short and all the other good trigger adjectives moreso than I want it super light.
