My daughter joined the trap shooting team at school.
I have never shot trap and can not give good advice for her.
Any tips or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated.

I would see you can post this at silver leaf or contact gene sears for recommendations for shooting coach.

If you get the right person the learning curve will be shortened drastically. I shot at the Anadarko trap club many years ago and a shooter give me pointers on the holds for certain angles & locations and wow my hit factor increased immediately.

Shooting is like pitching & hittting in Baseball / Softball correct fundamentals from the beginning make a world of difference.

Good luck with your girl, I am heading out the door to ride bicycles with mine as soon as I hit send.

Get an experienced coach that can work one on one.
An instructor needs to observe the beginner to correct issues on the spot. Form and technique is how this game is played.

I have found too much coaching too early can really screw things up and drive a young person away.
First, have a gun that fits well without too much punishment. Get a youth 870, cut the stock down another inch or so depending on her size and add a limbsaver pad and a fiber optic sight.
Second, give her the very basics, lead, sight picture and follow through and let her bust clays for a while and then start molding the technique over time.
Too much too soon while just frustrate her and push her away.
